Expedia Group is accelerating its push into artificial intelligence with a new suite of agentic AI tools built for B2B travel partners. The company’s latest innovations are meant to help travel businesses enhance personalization, automate operations and increase booking conversions with AI-powered technology.

The move positions Expedia as one of the major travel companies embracing the rise of “agentic AI” — AI systems capable of making decisions, automating workflows, and assisting users with complex travel planning.

Expedia Expands AI Strategy for Travel Businesses

According to Expedia Group, the new AI-powered tools are focused on helping B2B partners deliver faster and smarter customer experiences. At EXPLORE Connect B2B, the company launched a host of technologies including Smart Trip AI, machine learning-driven merchandising tools and new APIs to automate advertising and travel bookings.

One of the most notable additions is Smart Trip AI™, a conversational planning tool that helps travelers discover hotels, activities and personalized itineraries. Furthermore, Expedia says the system combines AI with partner loyalty data and traveler behavior insights to generate highly customized travel recommendations.

Expedia will also launch its Merchandising API in 2026. The AI-powered tool will use machine learning to suggest travel promotions and deals based on customer preferences and booking behavior. Expedia says this will help partners better target price-sensitive travelers and improve engagement and conversion rates.

What Is Agentic AI in Travel?

Agentic AI refers to AI systems that can act more autonomously, managing things like decision-making, workflow, recommendations and personalized interactions.

For the travel industry, this means AI can help users search, compare and even book travel with minimal human input. Expedia’s latest effort is a demonstration of how travel companies are moving beyond basic chatbots into more advanced AI-powered experiences.

Expedia executives have previously said that AI will transform the way travelers discover and plan trips. They believe conversational AI will become a key part of the customer journey.

    New APIs and Advertising Opportunities

In addition to trip planning, Expedia is also launching tools to help travel businesses monetize traffic and increase marketing performance.

The Lodging Sponsored Listings API enables B2B partners to display sponsored hotel recommendations directly on their own platforms. This generates new advertising revenue streams and offers travelers more personalized lodging suggestions.

Expedia is also growing its Rapid API ecosystem, granting partners access to more travel inventory and tools and automation capabilities for booking. Additionally, the company says these updates are intended to make integration simpler and allow partners to scale operations globally.

AI Is Becoming Core to the Future of Travel

As brands vie to provide more personalized and frictionless experiences, the travel industry is ramping up investment in generative AI and automation.

Expedia’s expanding AI ecosystem is part of a wider trend by companies to harness AI to automate trip planning, optimize pricing, enhance search results, and offer relevant recommendations. Meanwhile, analysts think agentic AI could transform how travelers interact with booking platforms in the next few years.

Expedia looks determined to be at the forefront of the next generation of travel tech. This comes as AI-driven commerce and autonomous digital assistants continue to evolve.

    Conclusion

Expedia Group’s new agentic AI tools are a testament to how quickly artificial intelligence is transforming the travel industry. The company is making big bets on automation and personalization to ramp up its B2B platform. This includes conversational trip planning as well as AI-powered merchandising and advertising APIs.

With more AI-powered features expected to roll out throughout 2026, Expedia is signaling that agentic AI could be a major competitive advantage in the future of digital travel experiences.
