Dubai has launched a new government scholarship scheme to prepare Emirati officials for a future shaped by artificial intelligence, economic change and global policymaking.

Named Mohammed bin Rashid Government Scholarships, the initiative was launched to give public sector professionals the advanced skills that can underpin faster, smarter and more adaptive decision-making by the government.

The program focuses on specialized fields including AI, economics, international business and policy strategy, according to Fast Company Middle East.

New Drive to Prepare Governance for AI

The scholarships are a sign of Dubai’s increasing efforts to develop a government workforce able to keep up with the fast pace of technological and economic change. Moreover, the programme is focused on practical, high-impact skills that align with Dubai’s public sector goals. It does this rather than providing generic leadership training.

Participants will explore advanced topics in applied artificial intelligence, economic scenario modeling, international business, and policymaking. The goal is to help officials turn academic knowledge into real-world government decisions.

Global Universities Are Part of the Program

The scholarships will be delivered in collaboration with major academic institutions, including Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, New York University Abu Dhabi, Georgetown University, and the University of Oxford. The program also includes executive education options such as Oxford’s AI-focused diploma.

The network connects participants to a global academic network with regional expertise and international policy perspectives.

Dubai’s AI Strategy: Why This Matters

Dubai is establishing itself as a global center for artificial intelligence and digital government. Therefore, the emirate is investing in education, training officials in artificial intelligence and economics, and improving the way public institutions make decisions.

The program may help government agencies better understand emerging technologies, anticipate economic challenges and develop more data-driven, responsive policies.

A Competitive Edge in Government Talent

The launch also highlights a broader trend: governments are increasingly seeing the development of talent as a strategic edge. In Dubai, the aim is to develop officials who can combine technical expertise, economic insight and delivery of policy.

That could mean asking future leaders in the public sector to do more than just run departments. Instead, they will have to interpret global trends, understand AI systems and apply data-backed insights to national and local priorities.

    Conclusion

Dubai’s new AI government scholarships are an example of how the emirate is preparing its public sector for the next phase of digital transformation. With its investment in specialized education for its Emirati officials, Dubai aims to create a government workforce capable of turning knowledge into action in an age of rapid technological change.

For AI watchers, this is another sign that artificial intelligence is no longer the domain of startups and tech companies. It is becoming a core part of how governments plan, compete and govern.
