The Dubai AI literacy programme was announced during the World Governments Summit in Dubai. The initiative focuses on integrating artificial intelligence education into private schools. The programme is led by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority. It is delivered in partnership with the DP World Foundation and MIT’s Responsible AI for Social Empowerment and Education initiative.

The Dubai AI literacy programme targets students in Grades 6 to 8. Around 80,500 students across Dubai private schools are expected to benefit. The programme will run from 2026 until February 2030. It aims to introduce structured AI learning at the middle school level.

Dubai AI Literacy Programme Curriculum and Subjects

The Dubai AI literacy programme will be embedded across six school subjects. These include Mathematics, Science, Computing, Art, English, and Arabic. AI concepts will be integrated into regular classroom teaching rather than taught as a standalone subject.

Students will learn how artificial intelligence systems function. They will explore how data is used to train AI models. Lessons will also cover how to assess AI-generated outputs. Responsible and ethical use of AI tools will be emphasized throughout the curriculum.

The curriculum will be co-designed with educators and partner institutions. Selected schools will participate in early classroom pilots. Feedback from these pilots will guide further development before full implementation.

Teacher Training in the Dubai AI Literacy Programme

Teacher development is a core element of the Dubai AI literacy programme. Educators will receive classroom-ready teaching materials. Professional development workshops will support lesson delivery and assessment methods.

Teachers will also gain access to a curated digital platform. The platform will include age-appropriate AI tools and learning resources. Guidance will be provided on how to safely introduce AI tools into student learning activities.

Dubai AI Literacy Programme Expansion and Enrichment Track

The Dubai AI literacy programme includes an additional enrichment pathway. This track is designed for high school students. It will run during school holidays using online and in-person formats.

The enrichment programme includes mentorship, team-based projects, and applied learning activities. Students will complete capstone projects focused on real-world AI applications. Certificates and evaluations will be issued upon completion.

The programme aligns with Dubai’s education strategy. It supports the integration of future skills into school systems. The initiative also strengthens teacher capacity to deliver AI education at scale.
