From Classroom Points to AI Teacher Support: ClassDojo Nominated for 2026 World AI Awards

ClassDojo has been nominated for the 2026 World AI Awards in the Classroom Management category, recognising a platform that has spent years building digital tools around one stubbornly human challenge: keeping teachers, students and families connected while a classroom is actually running.

Classroom management rarely comes down to one piece of software. Attendance matters. Behaviour matters. Parents need updates. Teachers need to know what is happening across a class without spending the evening buried in administrative work.

That is the territory ClassDojo knows well.

The company says its global community includes more than 50 million teachers and families, while its main platform combines messaging, Stories, student Portfolios, feedback Points, classroom utilities and family engagement tools.

Now AI is being added to that mix.

Classroom management built around the everyday stuff

ClassDojo’s classroom-management model starts with fairly practical tools rather than complicated analytics.

Teachers can use Dojo Points to recognise classroom behaviours and skills, while families can receive visibility into student progress. ClassDojo also offers attendance tools, timers, Portfolios and private classroom Stories, giving teachers a single place to handle several pieces of the school day.

Communication is a major part of the platform.

Teachers can send private messages, group chats and announcements to families. ClassDojo says messages and posts can now be automatically translated into more than 190 languages, addressing a very real classroom-management problem when teachers and families do not share the same first language.

For districts, the company has pushed these tools further. Its current offering includes positive-behaviour dashboards designed to show trends across classrooms and schools, alongside tools aligned with frameworks such as PBIS and MTSS.

None of this requires AI to be useful. That matters.

The newer AI features sit on top of an existing classroom workflow rather than attempting to replace it.

Sidekick brings AI into the teacher workflow

ClassDojo’s most direct move into artificial intelligence is Sidekick, an AI teaching assistant designed to reduce some of the writing and preparation work surrounding a teacher’s day.

Sidekick can generate multiple-choice assessments, draft messages and thank-you notes, suggest classroom activities, prepare Story posts and help teachers write report-card comments. Teachers can also ask it to adapt lessons for different reading levels or translate classroom instructions.

That puts the AI in a supporting role.

A teacher facing a difficult parent message, for example, can use Sidekick to create a first draft rather than starting with an empty screen. Someone preparing a lesson can ask for an activity or assessment and then modify the result for the actual students in front of them.

ClassDojo itself makes an important qualification: AI output should be checked before use. Its guidance tells teachers that AI is not perfect, recommends adding their own judgement and voice, and warns users not to enter personal information such as names or addresses into Sidekick.

AI meets behaviour management

There is another interesting use case developing around classroom behaviour.

ClassDojo says Sidekick can help teachers generate feedback and reminders aligned with district values and positive-behaviour programmes. Its district tools can then provide visibility into behaviour patterns across classrooms while families see feedback intended to reinforce expectations at home.

The company says Sidekick does not store or train on data entered through the feature, including student or family information.

That distinction is particularly relevant in education, where an AI feature can quickly become more sensitive if teachers begin feeding identifiable student information into it.

ClassDojo’s approach keeps the teacher in the loop. AI can suggest a message, activity or piece of feedback. The educator still decides whether it belongs in the classroom.

Graham Cooke, President of the World AI Awards, said:

“ClassDojo’s nomination highlights an important opportunity for artificial intelligence in education: helping teachers with the everyday work surrounding the classroom rather than trying to remove the teacher from it.

“Classroom management involves communication, preparation, behaviour support and dozens of small tasks competing for an educator’s time. By bringing AI assistance into a platform already used for those workflows, ClassDojo is exploring how the technology can give teachers practical support while keeping educators at the centre of decisions. We congratulate the ClassDojo team on its 2026 World AI Awards nomination.”

The World AI Awards recognises organisations, individuals, products and technologies contributing to the development and practical application of artificial intelligence across industries.

ClassDojo’s nomination in Classroom Management reflects a less spectacular but potentially useful direction for education AI. Instead of asking software to become the teacher, tools such as Sidekick are being positioned around the administrative and communication work that consumes teacher time.

There is still a human checkpoint. There should be.

The interesting question is whether AI can take enough friction out of those everyday tasks to give teachers more time for the part software cannot reproduce: actually knowing their students.
