GEMS Education has partnered with Oracle to prepare more than 11,000 secondary students and alumni for the growing AI-driven economy.
The UAE-based private school network has signed a memorandum of understanding with Oracle to deliver training in artificial intelligence, generative AI, data analytics, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and enterprise software. The programme will run over three years and will be delivered through Oracle University’s Skills Development Initiative.
The partnership makes GEMS the first private school network globally to join Oracle University’s Skills Development Initiative, a programme traditionally designed for university students, professionals, governments, and workforce development partners.
AI Training Begins Earlier in the Education Journey
The agreement marks an important shift in how digital skills are being introduced to students. Instead of waiting until university or the workplace, GEMS and Oracle are bringing professional-level technology training into secondary education.
Through Oracle MyLearn, students and alumni will be able to access online learning pathways covering AI foundations, generative AI, cloud technologies, data platforms, analytics, cybersecurity, and Oracle enterprise tools such as ERP, HCM, and CX.
The training will be offered at no cost to learners. Participants will also receive access to certification opportunities, digital badges, and multiple free attempts at certification exams.
Half of Participants Expected to Earn Certification
The programme aims to train at least 11,000 learners across the GEMS network over the next three years. Oracle and GEMS expect around 50% of participants to achieve foundational certification.
This can give students a head start as universities and employers increasingly seek to see practical skills in AI and cloud computing. Certifications earned before graduation may help learners demonstrate career readiness in fields impacted by automation, data and intelligent software systems.
Why the GEMS Oracle AI Training Partnership Matters
AI is rapidly becoming a key component of education, business and public sector transformation. By offering structured AI and cloud training at school level, GEMS and Oracle are helping students develop skills that could be vital to the future job market.
The initiative also supports the UAE’s wider digital talent goals. It can also strengthen the country’s role in the global AI economy.
Demand is growing for skills in AI, cloud, analytics, and cybersecurity. As a result, early exposure to these technologies can help students make better academic and career choices.
Oracle Expands Its Regional Skills Development Push
Oracle has been expanding its digital skills programmes across the Middle East and North Africa. The company previously announced plans to train and certify hundreds of thousands of people across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Morocco, and Jordan in cloud and AI technologies.
By working with GEMS, Oracle is extending that talent pipeline into secondary schools. This gives younger learners access to industry-grade education years before they would normally enter professional certification programmes.
A Step Toward the Agentic Economy
The partnership also comes as businesses prepare for what many technology leaders describe as the “agentic economy,” where AI agents and automated systems will play a larger role in work, decision-making, and productivity.
For students, this means future careers may require more than basic digital literacy. Understanding how AI systems work, how data is used, and how cloud platforms support modern applications could become essential across industries.
GEMS and Oracle’s training programme is designed to help learners build that foundation early. If successful, it could become a model for how schools prepare students for an AI-powered future.
