Pegasus Airlines is expanding its use of artificial intelligence through a new strategic partnership with Overwatch AI. Overwatch AI is a tech company that builds AI-powered tools for airline operations.

The airline’s innovation arm, Pegasus Innovation Lab, is spearheading the partnership, which is focused on digital transformation and collaboration with the global technology ecosystem. Under the agreement, Pegasus Innovation Lab is providing strategic investment and design partnership for Overwatch AI’s airline operations platform.

The move is indicative of the growing importance of AI in aviation, including for operational decision-making, crew support, flight planning, technical issue management and access to real-time information.

Overwatch AI Platform for Airline Operations

The Overwatch AI platform is designed specifically for airline operations teams. It enables pilots, cabin crews, and operational staff to access critical information swiftly using natural language queries.

Instead of having to manually search multiple systems, documents or operational references, airline teams can ask questions and get the relevant information faster. This can help with decision-making on things like technical issues, weather assessments, airport requirements and airline procedures.

Pegasus Airlines has already deployed the platform in its operations, the report added.

    Faster Decision Making

In aviation, timely and accurate information is crucial. Pilots, cabin crew and operations teams often make decisions based on changing conditions. These changes may include weather, aircraft status, airport restrictions, operational requirements and more.

The Pegasus Airlines AI platform aims to enable teams to extract this information more efficiently. With natural language search and AI-generated responses, the platform has the potential to reduce the time to find operational data. As a result, it enables teams to operate with greater confidence.

This kind of AI application is particularly useful in complex airline environments where decisions are often multi-departmental. Additionally, information is flowing at a rapid pace.

Overwatch AI’s platform is used in 30,000 flight operations per month globally. It was founded by ex-airline pilot Leo Kotil and tech entrepreneur Nikita Kaeshko, to support greater operational efficiency in the aviation space.

The difference from general AI tools is that it is focused on airline-specific needs. The platform is built around the operational realities of aviation, where safety, accuracy, speed, and compliance are critical.

    Pegasus Airlines Pushes Digital Transformation

Pegasus Airlines said the investment reflects its wider focus on digitalisation and operational excellence.

Barış Fındık, Chief Technology Officer at Pegasus Airlines, said digitalisation is one of the key foundations of operational excellence at the airline. He added that the collaboration with Overwatch AI is designed to help teams access critical information more quickly. Therefore, teams can make more effective decisions across operational processes.

The airline also believes artificial intelligence will bring significant transformation opportunities to aviation operations.

Why It Matters to the Aviation Industry

The partnership between Pegasus Airlines and Overwatch AI is further evidence of how AI is being used in aviation. Its use now goes beyond customer service chatbots and revenue management systems.

Airlines are exploring AI for core operational functions such as maintenance support, crew coordination, airport operations, disruption management and safety-related workflows.

For airlines, AI-enabled operations platforms can help reduce delays, optimize coordination, enable staff productivity and best decision making. They are especially useful during complex operational situations.

At the same time, aviation AI systems need to meet high standards of reliability, data accuracy, cybersecurity and human oversight. In airline operations, AI is most likely to be used as a decision-support tool rather than a replacement for trained aviation professionals.

AI Adoption in Aviation Continues to Rise

Pegasus Airlines’ investment in Overwatch AI is a case in point of how airlines are looking for practical AI tools that can deliver tangible operational gains.

As AI platforms become more specialised, we will likely see an increase in partnerships between airlines and technology companies. These partnerships will focus on solving specific industry challenges.

The new AI-powered operations platform could help Pegasus Airlines improve efficiency, accelerate access to critical information and enable better operational decision-making across its teams.

The partnership is also representative of a broader trend: artificial intelligence is becoming more central to airline digital transformation plans. Real-world applications are now extending to pilots, cabin crews and operations teams.
