Indian travelers are fast to adopt Artificial Intelligence for making their trip planning smarter and easier. In fact, AI for travel planning is quickly becoming a popular trend among Indian tourists. A new report reveals that 68 percent of Indian travelers are likely to use AI for planning their next trips in 2026.

Artificial intelligence is being used for trip planning and tourism and it is changing the way tourists plan vacations. It helps in making personalized itineraries, budgeting and managing trip logistics.

AI for Holiday Planning on the Rise in India

One in three Indian travellers is using AI to plan their vacation trips at present, as per the 2026 Travel Outlook Report by Agoda. Further, almost double the current number of people want to use artificial intelligence for planning their future trips in India.

These results show that AI has become an essential part of the tourism industry. It is no longer an emerging trend in the industry.

What Indian Travellers Want From AI When Planning Their Trips

The modern-day travellers in India are not looking for basic destination searches through AI-powered travel apps. The application of Artificial Intelligence is heading towards recommendations generation on destinations, budgets and dining options.

The survey found around 38% of researchers would like AI tools to make suggestions for attractions and activities. Moreover, 37 percent of Indians want personalized vacation itineraries generated using their inputs into an artificial intelligence application. Also, 29 percent of surveyed individuals mentioned using AI for destination searches during trip planning.

With the use of modern AI travel assistants and chatbots, tourists can now create trips much quicker and easier compared to traditional ways. An AI-powered travel platform can analyze budgets, schedule, preferences, past travel behaviors, and other inputs. Then it generates a customized trip within seconds.

Indian Tourists Fully Trust AI Recommendations

One of the most interesting findings of the researchers is the high level of trust Indians have in AI recommendations for trips. About 88 percent of survey respondents said they trust AI-powered tourism recommendations. Also, about 53 percent completely rely on AI-powered trip planning apps when traveling.

The fact is, India is rapidly transforming digitally and adopting technology in various fields including tourism. The travel apps and other platforms of today are already immersed into the consumer behavior.

Experts say younger travelers are at the forefront of the AI-powered trip-planning trend, because it has its advantages. They like getting personalized recommendations and immediate help for their trips.

AI Is Changing the Future of Tourism

Artificial intelligence is now woven into every step of travel, from first searches for destinations to hotel and restaurant choices. AI-powered recommendation engines enable travel companies to better engage tourists and help plan trips.

The tourism industry is harnessing predictive analysis, chatbot technology, language translation and dynamic pricing to boost the experience for travelers. Experts say AI-powered solutions are helping to make travel experiences more engaging and convenient.

Improvements in large language models, machine learning capabilities and real-time data processing have made AI-powered travel platforms even more advanced, researchers say.

Why is AI Adoption Accelerating in the Travel Industry?

One of the major reasons for the swift adoption of artificial intelligence in tourism is the travelers’ demand for personalized experiences. They seek tailor-made travel recommendations based on their interests, past travel experiences and budgets.

With new AI-based travel systems, travelers can enter their flight, lodging, restaurant, sightseeing and transportation preferences. Then they get a complete itinerary.

According to research from Agoda, travellers in India are especially interested in AI trip planning tools as it reduces the unknowns associated with travelling.

How Can AI Help India Boost Its Tourism?

Experts believe that the growing adoption of AI in tourism is likely to result in rapid tourism growth. With such tools, tourists are likely to make bookings for more vacation trips. They are also likely to choose AI-powered platforms for planning their vacations.

The growing use of artificial intelligence in tourism is consistent with India’s policy regarding adoption of smart technologies in different industries. And with the advancement of technology, AI tourism platforms are upping their game.

With the development of language model and machine learning, they are becoming more intelligent and conversational. Also, AI-powered tourism platforms can generate more immersive travel experiences.

AI-Based Tourism Platforms Will Take Over in Future

The results of the recent Agoda study make it obvious that artificial intelligence has become an inherent part of the trip planning process. Today’s travelers can generate personal vacation itineraries assisted by AI travel platforms. They can find out about destinations, plan their holidays, manage their budgets, and make bookings faster and more efficiently.

Since nearly 68 percent of Indian tourists plan to use artificial intelligence in 2026 for planning trips, the travel industry seems ready to embrace the AI revolution soon.
