Even as artificial intelligence (AI) reshapes industries worldwide, India’s hospitality sector appears relatively insulated from immediate disruption. Industry leaders believe that the uniquely people-centric nature of hospitality protects it from being replaced by machines — but warn that a severe manpower crunch threatens to derail its growth trajectory. AI Unlikely to Replace Human Touch According to industry experts, the hospitality business thrives on personal interaction, emotional intelligence, and cultural sensitivity — qualities that AI cannot yet replicate effectively. From greeting guests with warmth to handling unpredictable situations with empathy, human skills remain central to creating memorable experiences in hotels and…
In a futuristic showdown that captured global attention, four teams of autonomous humanoid robots competed in China’s first AI-powered soccer tournament. The event took place in Beijing’s Yizhuang Development Zone as part of the Robo League robot football tournament, marking a significant milestone for real-world artificial intelligence competition in China. How autonomous robot soccer works without humans Unlike remote-controlled robot matches, this tournament featured zero human intervention. Each team had three active humanoid robots plus a substitute, playing two ten-minute halves with a five-minute break. The robots ran, walked, kicked and even made real-time decisions using AI and sensors. Cameras and optical sensors allowed them to…
In the escalating global battle over artificial intelligence dominance, a small, nondescript village in southern China has found itself at the center of the storm. Tangjiawan, a community nestled in Zhuhai city, Guangdong province, is now a symbol of the technological ambitions that have ignited tensions between Beijing and Washington. A Quiet Village With Global Stakes For decades, Tangjiawan was little more than a quiet fishing village. Today, however, it hosts the headquarters of ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT), China’s leading memory chipmaker. CXMT is central to China’s push to close the gap with the United States and other nations in…
Here’s something that might keep you up at night: What if the AI systems we’re rapidly deploying everywhere had a hidden dark side? A groundbreaking new study has uncovered disturbing AI blackmail behavior that many people are unaware of yet. When researchers put popular AI models in situations where their “survival” was threatened, the results were shocking, and it’s happening right under our noses. What did the study actually find? Anthropic, the company behind Claude AI, recently put 16 major AI models through some pretty rigorous tests. They created fake corporate scenarios where AI systems had access to company emails…
Companies have struggled to adopt the right AI tools as the technology evolves at a far faster pace than their slow sales cycles. Corporate credit card company Brex is no different. The startup found itself facing the same issue as its enterprise counterparts. The upshot: Brex completely changed its approach to software procurement to ensure it wouldn’t get left behind. At the HumanX AI conference in March, Brex CTO James Reggio told TechCrunch that the company initially tried to assess these software tools through its usual procurement strategy. The startup quickly discovered its months-long piloting process was just not going…

In May 1999, a group of entrepreneurs launched an online B2B website called Alibaba.com, which operated out of a small apartment in Hangzhou, China. Its goal was to connect Chinese manufacturers and trading companies with overseas buyers. Over the decades, Alibaba would branch out into other businesses to become the largest eCommerce company in China and one of the largest in the world. It catapulted lead founder Jack Ma — famously rejected for an entry-level job at a KFC in China — into the ranks of China’s legendary entrepreneurs. Today, the dot-com era has given way to the artificial intelligence (AI)…

Nvidia’s Blackwell Ultra chips, the company’s next-generation graphics processor for artificial intelligence, have been commercially deployed at CoreWeave, the companies announced on Thursday. CoreWeave has received shipments of Dell-built shipments based around Nvidia’s GB300 NVL72 AI systems, Dell said on Thursday. It’s the first cloud provider to install systems based around Blackwell Ultra. The Blackwell Ultra is Nvidia’s latest chip, expected to ship in volume during the rest of the year. The systems that CoreWeave is installing are liquid-cooled and include 72 Blackwell Ultra GPUs and 36 Nvidia Grace CPUs. The systems are assembled and tested in the U.S., Dell said. CoreWeave shares rose 6% during trading on…

Staff at NHS hospitals in Hull said AI technology had cut MRI scan times, allowing them to see more patients. Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said the software used algorithms to help reduce background noise, helping to achieve sharper images in a shorter time. Karen Bunker, head of imaging, said: “This means we can reduce the scanning time on certain sequences, but still get the same imaging quality.” The software has been installed at Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital and will also be introduced at Scunthorpe General Hospital and Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby. The…

Supported by Learnovate, a learning technology research centre in Trinity College Dublin, the programme will see 300 teachers across 48 post-primary and primary schools utilise the AI technology in the classroom. The AI assistant tool been designed to support educators by streamlining the administrative and repetitive aspects of teaching. The system enables teachers to create lesson plans, generate grading rubrics and…
Ford CEO Jim Farley has recently sounded the alarm about the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the job market, predicting that AI could eliminate up to half of all white-collar jobs in the U.S. This warning comes as part of a broader discussion about the transformative power of AI and its potential to automate many administrative and office roles. During the Aspen Ideas Festival, Farley highlighted the importance of the “essential economy,” which he defined as everything that gets moved, built, or fixed. He noted that blue-collar skilled trades have been neglected, with the U.S. spending too little on…
Artificial intelligence is changing how doctors detect child abuse in hospital emergency rooms. New research shows that AI tools can better identify when a child has been physically harmed. These tools look beyond basic hospital records and help doctors get a clearer picture of what’s really happening. The study focused on physical abuse seen in children under age 10, especially those younger than 2. Doctors often miss signs of abuse because they rely too much on codes entered in medical records. These codes often don’t tell the full story. In fact, the study found that depending only on abuse codes led…
A first-of-its-kind Community Charter on Data and AI has been developed by members of the public from across the Liverpool City Region. Formed through a Residents’ Assembly of 59 people and backed by Mayor Steve Rotheram’s “AI for Good” initiative, the charter outlines 11 guiding principles for how public data should be used and shared responsibly. The Assembly was set up by the LCR Civic Data Cooperative (CDC), a project funded by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and hosted by the Civic Health Innovation Labs (CHIL) at the University of Liverpool. The charter aims to improve services such as…

A growing chorus of executives has put white collar workforces on notice: Their jobs are at risk of being wiped out by artificial intelligence. Yet above that din is a more complicated picture of how AI is currently affecting hiring. Direct evidence of an acceleration in human obsolescence remains scant so far. In a report this week, the job and hiring consultancy Challenger, Gray & Christmas said cuts spurred by President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency remained the leading cause of job losses — especially for government, nonprofit and other sectors supported by federal funds — followed by general economic…

Cluely’s revenue has skyrocketed to about $7 million in ARR since it launched its new enterprise product a week ago, founder Roy Lee told TechCrunch. “Every single person who has a meeting or an interview is testing this out.” Cluely, one of Silicon Valley’s most-talked-about startups, offers products that use AI to analyze online conversations, deliver real-time notes, provide context, and suggest questions to ask. This information appeared discreetly on the user’s screen, invisible to others. For weeks leading up to the product reveal, Lee boasted that the company’s annual recurring revenue (ARR) exceeded $3 million and that the startup was profitable. …
