    Key Takeaways

    • The AI Health Assistant by China Mobile and Huawei won two GSMA GLOMO Awards at MWC Barcelona 2026 for innovation in healthcare services.
    • It integrates 5G New Calling technology with IMS Data Channel for real-time healthcare delivery via standard voice calls.
    • The platform connects over 5,000 hospitals and more than one million doctors, ensuring reliable access to medical services.
    • It aims to improve healthcare accessibility for users without smartphones, targeting the elderly and those in remote areas.
    • China Mobile and Huawei plan to expand the AI Health Assistant ecosystem by partnering with more healthcare organizations and deploying it in other regions.

The AI Health Assistant developed by China Mobile and Huawei received two GSMA Global Mobile (GLOMO) Awards at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2026. The project, known as the Ubiquitous AI Health Assistant, was recognized for innovation in digital healthcare services.

The solution won the Best Mobile Connected Health and Wellbeing Innovation award. It also received the Best Use of Mobile for Accessibility and Inclusion award. The GSMA presents the GLOMO Awards each year to recognize major advances in mobile technology and connectivity.

The AI Health Assistant integrates artificial intelligence with telecommunications infrastructure to deliver healthcare services through mobile networks.

AI Health Assistant Uses 5G New Calling and IMS Data Channel

The AI Health Assistant combines China Mobile’s 5G New Calling technology with Huawei’s communications systems. The platform enables healthcare services through standard voice calls.

The system uses the 3GPP IMS Data Channel (IMS DC). This technology allows simultaneous voice communication and data exchange during a call. It creates a real-time channel for interaction between users and AI medical services.

Users can access the AI Health Assistant by dialing a phone number. No application installation or account registration is required. The platform supports medical questions, symptom checks, health consultations, and hospital guidance.

AI Health Assistant Connects Hospitals and Medical Experts

The AI Health Assistant integrates multimodal AI models and medical knowledge graphs. These technologies allow voice-based interaction and automated health information services.

The platform connects a large healthcare ecosystem. It links over 5,000 hospitals and medical institutions. The network includes more than one million doctors. The system also features over 300 AI medical expert avatars.

Carrier-grade telecommunications infrastructure supports the platform. Networks provide high reliability and continuous connectivity. The system delivers responses with millisecond-level latency during consultations.

AI Health Assistant Expands Access to Digital Healthcare

The AI Health Assistant is designed to improve healthcare accessibility through telecommunications networks. The service can be used without smartphones or mobile applications.

The platform targets groups that may face digital access barriers. These include elderly users and people in remote regions.

China Mobile and Huawei plan to expand the AI Health Assistant ecosystem. The companies intend to cooperate with more healthcare organizations. Additional deployments in other regions are planned.

MWC Barcelona 2026 took place from March 2 to March 5 in Barcelona, Spain. Huawei presented several new technologies during the event, including the award-winning AI Health Assistant.
