Tuwaiq Academy and NVIDIA Open AI Innovation Centre in Riyadh

Tuwaiq Academy has opened a new artificial intelligence centre in Riyadh with NVIDIA, adding another piece to Saudi Arabia’s fast-growing AI strategy.

The Tuwaiq Academy NVIDIA AI Innovation Centre will focus on practical training, technical certification and the development of Saudi professionals capable of building real-world AI systems.

Natural language processing will be one of its early priorities. That matters in a country where demand is growing for AI tools that can understand Arabic, handle regional dialects and work inside government and commercial services.

The centre was launched at Tuwaiq Academy’s headquarters in Riyadh, with NVIDIA representatives, technology specialists and industry partners attending the event.

A Centre Built Around Practical AI Skills

This is not being presented as a general awareness programme.

Tuwaiq Academy says the centre will use an application-focused learning model, bringing together specialists from the academy and NVIDIA to develop joint programmes. Participants are expected to work directly with AI technologies rather than spend most of their time studying theory.

The first programmes will concentrate on natural language processing applications. Over time, the scope could extend deeper into machine learning, generative AI and other emerging technologies.

Graduates will also have opportunities to earn globally recognised certifications and qualify as ambassadors with skills linked to current labour-market demand.

That last part is important. Saudi Arabia does not only need more people who can talk about AI. It needs engineers, developers, trainers and technical operators who can deploy it.

Saudi Arabia Is Building Talent Alongside Infrastructure

Much of the attention around Saudi Arabia’s AI push has gone to data centres, advanced chips and large computing projects.

Those investments are only useful when there are enough people available to operate them.

The new centre appears designed to address that gap. It gives Saudi developers and technology professionals a place to gain hands-on experience with tools from one of the world’s most influential AI computing companies.

Saudi Arabia and NVIDIA have already announced broader initiatives involving sovereign AI infrastructure, cloud computing, digital twins and robotics. The Tuwaiq centre sits at a different layer of that strategy: workforce development.

Hardware can be purchased. Technical experience takes longer to build.

Natural Language Processing Could Be the Bigger Story

The early focus on natural language processing is easy to overlook, but it may prove to be one of the centre’s most relevant areas.

Arabic AI remains a difficult technical problem. Modern language models often perform more consistently in English because far more English-language training data is available online. Arabic brings additional complications, including regional dialects, spelling variation and differences between formal and conversational language.

Saudi organisations need systems that can work accurately in that environment.

Better Arabic-language AI could support digital government platforms, customer service systems, education, healthcare administration, legal research and local business applications. Training Saudi specialists to build and adapt those systems gives the country more control over how the technology is developed.

It also reduces dependence on imported models that may not fully understand local language or context.

Tuwaiq Academy Expands Its NVIDIA Partnership

The innovation centre is not the first collaboration between Tuwaiq Academy and NVIDIA.

The two organisations previously launched professional AI programmes in Riyadh using NVIDIA tools and technologies. Those courses were designed to build national capabilities while giving participants access to professional certifications.

Tuwaiq Academy also hosted an NVIDIA-supported AI event featuring technical discussions and a hands-on workshop covering artificial intelligence and machine-learning fundamentals. More than 1,500 participants attended the workshop, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The new centre makes the relationship more permanent. Instead of a collection of individual courses, it creates a dedicated base for continuing training, experimentation and programme development.

Part of a Much Larger Workforce Target

Founded in 2019, Tuwaiq Academy operates as the training arm of the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming and Drones. It offers programmes covering artificial intelligence, programming, cybersecurity and other advanced technologies.

The academy has set a goal of qualifying 100,000 programmers by 2030.

That is an ambitious number, though the direction is clear. Saudi Arabia wants to expand its domestic technology workforce quickly enough to support its wider digital transformation plans under Vision 2030.

The NVIDIA centre gives that effort a recognisable international partner and access to training connected with widely used AI platforms.

NVIDIA Is Building More Regional AI Partnerships

NVIDIA has been expanding its role in national AI projects across the Middle East and Africa.

In Tunisia, the company supported an AI innovation hub at Novation City, offering training intended to strengthen local development and encourage sovereign AI capabilities.

In Saudi Arabia, NVIDIA has announced plans with local organisations to support AI factories, GPU-powered infrastructure, cloud computing and advanced applications. One agreement with HUMAIN includes plans for large-scale AI data centres designed to train and deploy sovereign models.

The Tuwaiq Academy project is smaller than those infrastructure deals. It may be just as necessary.

AI infrastructure creates computing capacity. Training centres create the people who know what to do with it.

    What Happens Next

The immediate test will be whether the centre produces graduates who move into real AI roles and build useful systems.

Certificates alone will not measure its success. Projects, employment outcomes, Arabic-language applications and locally developed AI products will matter more.

Still, the centre fills an obvious need. Saudi Arabia is spending heavily to become an AI leader, and that ambition requires more than servers and GPUs.

It requires a deep bench of local talent.

The Tuwaiq Academy NVIDIA AI Innovation Centre is an attempt to build exactly that.
