South Korea’s shipbuilding industry is getting another AI upgrade, and this one is not just about adding software to office desks.
Naver Cloud and HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering have signed a partnership to build AI-powered shipyards, shipbuilding-focused cloud infrastructure, and software-defined vessel technology. The agreement brings together one of South Korea’s major cloud and AI players with the shipbuilding arm of HD Hyundai, a group already deeply tied to global vessel production.
It sounds industrial. Heavy. Maybe even boring if you only follow chatbot launches.
But this is where AI starts to matter in the physical economy. Not in a demo window. Not in a clever prompt. In shipyards, production lines, design files, robots, vessels, and the huge operational mess that comes with building some of the world’s most complex machines.
Naver Cloud and HD Korea Shipbuilding Sign AI Shipbuilding Deal
