Dubai AI Campus Targets 1,000 Companies and 5,000 Jobs by 2030

Dubai is setting bigger targets for its artificial intelligence industry, with Dubai AI Campus aiming to attract more than 1,000 AI companies and create over 5,000 specialised jobs by 2030.

The new ambitions follow rapid growth at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) initiative, which has already attracted more than 500 companies and supported businesses that collectively raised over AED 1 billion in investment.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and UAE Minister of Defence, approved the expanded targets during the Dubai AI Festival on October 26, 2026.

The announcement reflects Dubai’s determination to become a major destination for AI development, investment and commercial innovation.

Dubai AI Campus Surpasses Its Original Growth Targets

Launched in May 2024, Dubai AI Campus was established to bring together artificial intelligence companies, investors, researchers and technology entrepreneurs within DIFC. The initiative originally aimed to attract 500 AI companies by 2028, but it has already exceeded that target two years ahead of schedule.

The campus has also contributed to the creation of more than 2,000 specialised technology jobs, while companies within its ecosystem have collectively secured over AED 1 billion in private equity and venture capital investment. These early results have encouraged Dubai to raise its ambitions, targeting more than 1,000 companies and 5,000 jobs by 2030.

The figures suggest growing interest among international AI businesses seeking access to Dubai’s investment environment, regional markets and technology infrastructure. Rather than focusing solely on attracting startups, the campus is positioning itself as a place where emerging companies can develop products, establish partnerships and expand their commercial operations.

New AI Campus Facility Planned for DIFC Zabeel District

Dubai’s expansion plans include a dedicated 100,000-square-foot AI Campus building within the DIFC Zabeel District development. The proposed facility will provide specialised infrastructure for artificial intelligence research, development, testing and commercialisation.

The building is expected to feature GPU-ready computing infrastructure, secure development environments, modular laboratories and digital twin technologies. These facilities would give AI companies access to technical resources needed to build and test advanced applications without having to establish everything independently.

An AI Experience Centre is also planned, offering visitors opportunities to explore practical applications of artificial intelligence across different industries. The facility is intended to connect technology developers with businesses, government organisations, investors and researchers interested in adopting AI solutions.

For smaller AI companies, access to shared infrastructure could be particularly valuable. Advanced computing resources and specialised laboratories can require substantial investment, making collaborative development environments increasingly attractive.

Dubai AI Festival Brings Global Technology Leaders Together

The expanded targets were announced during the third Dubai AI Festival, held on October 26–27, 2026, at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Organised by Dubai AI Campus in collaboration with the UAE Office of the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, the event brought together international technology companies, investors, policymakers and industry specialists.

The festival was expected to welcome more than 20,000 participants from over 100 countries, alongside hundreds of investors, exhibitors and speakers. Discussions focused on artificial intelligence investment, infrastructure, governance and practical applications across different economic sectors.

During his visit, Sheikh Hamdan explored exhibits featuring technologies from companies including Amazon Web Services, Alibaba Cloud, ElevenLabs and robotics developer Linkerbot. He also reviewed AI applications in medical education and clinical diagnostic training at Dubai Medical University.

The event highlighted the growing diversity of Dubai’s AI ambitions, extending beyond software development into healthcare, robotics, financial technology and enterprise automation.

DIFC Strengthens Dubai’s Position as an AI Investment Hub

Dubai AI Campus operates within DIFC, one of the region’s major international financial centres. Its location provides technology companies with access to financial institutions, investment firms, professional services businesses and potential enterprise customers.

DIFC has increasingly supported the development of financial technology and digital innovation, making artificial intelligence a natural extension of its broader economic strategy. AI companies working in areas such as regulatory compliance, financial analytics, cybersecurity and business automation could benefit from operating close to organisations seeking these technologies.

The campus also supports collaboration between startups, established businesses and government institutions. Such partnerships can help companies move beyond early-stage development and test their technologies in commercial environments.

Dubai’s wider business ecosystem offers another advantage. International companies can use the emirate as a base for reaching customers across the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, potentially expanding the commercial opportunities available to AI developers.

Dubai’s AI Expansion Could Create More Specialised Technology Jobs

The target of more than 5,000 specialised jobs by 2030 places workforce development at the centre of Dubai AI Campus’s expansion plans. As more AI companies establish operations in the emirate, demand could increase for machine learning engineers, software developers, data scientists, cybersecurity specialists and AI researchers.

Employment growth will depend on the ability of these companies to expand their operations and develop sustainable businesses. Attracting international technology firms is one part of that process, but retaining skilled professionals and supporting local talent development will also be important.

Dubai has already introduced several initiatives aimed at improving AI adoption and digital skills across its economy. The expansion of Dubai AI Campus could complement those efforts by creating additional opportunities for technical professionals and businesses seeking specialised expertise.

The challenge will be ensuring that employment growth keeps pace with the rapid development of AI technologies, particularly as automation changes the skills required across different industries.

Dubai AI Campus Faces Bigger Expectations Ahead of 2030

Dubai AI Campus has moved beyond its original growth targets much earlier than expected, but the next phase will require more than increasing the number of registered companies. The initiative will need to demonstrate that its expanding ecosystem can support successful businesses, attract long-term investment and contribute to economic activity.

Competition for AI companies and technical talent is intensifying globally. Governments and technology hubs are investing heavily in computing infrastructure, research facilities and financial incentives to attract businesses developing advanced artificial intelligence systems.

Dubai’s strategy combines investment access, specialised infrastructure and proximity to international markets. Its planned AI development facilities could strengthen that offering, particularly for companies seeking to commercialise new technologies.

The next four years will provide a clearer picture of whether Dubai AI Campus can translate its early momentum into lasting economic growth.

Dubai AI Campus Enters a New Phase of Growth

Dubai’s decision to raise the targets for Dubai AI Campus reflects confidence in the initiative’s early performance. With more than 500 companies attracted, over AED 1 billion in investment secured by participating businesses and thousands of specialised jobs supported, the campus has established a foundation for further expansion.

The proposed 100,000-square-foot facility and new 2030 targets indicate that Dubai intends to develop a broader AI ecosystem capable of supporting research, investment and commercial applications.

For the companies operating within that ecosystem, the real opportunity lies in turning AI innovation into products and services that businesses and consumers are willing to adopt.

Dubai has set the targets. The next test is delivering on them.
