The UAE is opening the eighth edition of its national AI Camp this month, and the programme is getting noticeably more ambitious.

Running from August 17 to 29, 2026, the UAE AI Camp 2026 will bring together students, professionals, business owners and people simply curious about artificial intelligence for two weeks of workshops, hackathons and practical technology sessions. This isn’t being pitched as an event only for developers.

School and university students are part of the audience. So are employees, young professionals, entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized business owners. The programme stretches from basic digital safety to agentic AI, robotics and building AI-powered applications. And some of the biggest technology companies in the world are involved.

Google, Microsoft, Intel and Accenture Join UAE AI Camp 2026

The eighth UAE AI Camp is organised by the National Programme for Artificial Intelligence together with the National Programme for Coders.

Its partner list includes Maharat Min Google, Microsoft, Intel, Accenture, BytePlus, Brainy n Bright, Think Media Labs, Spectrum and Modesh World. The Transport Authority of the Government of Ajman is also participating. That mix matters.

The UAE isn’t treating AI education as something that ends with learning how to use a chatbot. The programme reaches into cybersecurity, project management, legal operations, transport, robotics, marketing and application development. It’s a much wider definition of “AI skills.”

Agentic AI Is Now Part of the Programme

Generative AI remains on the agenda, but the UAE AI Camp 2026 is also putting agentic AI in front of participants. Sessions will examine the difference between generative AI and AI agents — systems designed to move beyond generating responses and perform tasks with greater autonomy.

It’s a timely addition. Agentic systems have quickly become one of the industry’s biggest areas of experimentation as technology companies try to turn AI assistants into software capable of carrying out longer, multi-step workflows. Participants will also get hands-on explanations of how AI learns from data, images and information rather than keeping the discussion at the prompt-writing level.

    Cybersecurity, Gemini and AI-Assisted Work

Some sessions are much more practical. The programme includes workshops covering fraud detection, password protection and digital well-being, alongside Google’s Gemini Academy for students.

There will also be sessions looking at how AI assistants can reshape project management and how artificial intelligence could change legal operations and compliance.

The variety is intentional. Someone attending to understand online security is going to have a very different starting point from a professional exploring AI automation or a student interested in robotics. The camp is trying to accommodate all of them.

A Future of Transport Hackathon Adds a Competitive Element

One of the more interesting pieces of the programme is the Future of Transport Hackathon. Rather than discussing AI only as software, the hackathon pushes participants toward solving practical transportation challenges.

Robotics will get attention too, while other workshops move into AI applications for business, marketing, video production, educational content and mobile application development.

It’s a broad programme, perhaps unusually broad. But that reflects how quickly AI has moved beyond a single technology category. AI is increasingly becoming a layer inside everything else.

UAE Keeps Building Its Domestic AI Talent Pipeline

The bigger story is what the camp says about the UAE’s long-term AI strategy. This is the eighth edition, not a one-off technology conference created around the current generative AI boom.

Organisers say more than 34,000 people participated across the first seven editions of the UAE AI Camp. The official programme website now describes the initiative as having reached more than 36,000 participants, with over 50 partners and more than 130 topics associated with the camp.

That scale fits into a much larger national effort.

The UAE’s National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031 is built around making the country a global AI leader, with investment in both industries and people. The government’s AI Office is also pursuing its 1 Million AI Talents initiative, which aims to train one million people in AI by 2027.

Training programmes such as the AI Camp are where that ambition becomes less abstract. Infrastructure matters. Models matter. Investment matters. But countries competing for a place in the AI economy also need people who know what to do with the technology.

AI Education Is Becoming Part of the UAE’s Wider Strategy

The UAE has steadily expanded the number of routes available for learning artificial intelligence. Universities including Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, Khalifa University and United Arab Emirates University offer AI-related education, while government-backed initiatives include the National Programme for Coders and AI-focused training programmes.

The UAE AI Camp occupies a slightly different position.

It lowers the barrier to entry. A school student can encounter AI through games and introductory activities. Teenagers can learn coding and problem-solving. General participants can explore everyday AI applications. More experienced students and professionals can move into AI tools, ethics and advanced applications.

The official camp programme divides those audiences into Children, General, Youth and Advanced tracks. That’s probably more important than it sounds.

AI adoption won’t happen only because specialists understand machine learning. It happens when ordinary workers, students, business owners and public-sector employees become comfortable enough with the technology to actually use it.

The UAE appears determined to accelerate that process. The eighth UAE AI Camp runs from August 17 through August 29, 2026.
