SlickTrip then monitors prices and alerts them when fares move downward. According to the company, those notifications can arrive through push alerts, email or SMS depending on the user’s preferences.

What SlickTrip is betting on is having them work together around persistent monitoring rather than forcing someone to start a fresh flight search every time they open the app.
The Bigger Shift Is From Searching to Watching
Travel platforms have spent years trying to make flight search faster. The newer battle looks slightly different: stop making the traveler search at all. SlickTrip describes its role as helping people decide when to book rather than simply showing them where a ticket can be purchased.
That distinction is becoming more relevant as travel platforms lean harder into automated price monitoring. Expedia, for example, has developed app-based flight deal tools that continually analyze fares. Skyscanner has also expanded its DROPS feature for identifying significant airfare reductions.
The interface may be a phone screen, but much of the useful work increasingly happens when the traveler isn’t looking at it. That is arguably the more interesting part of this trend.
SlickTrip Says the Service Is Free
SlickTrip currently says its consumer service is free, with no paid subscription tiers for its core alert functionality. Instead, the company says it generates revenue through commissions when travelers make eligible bookings through the platform.
Users can reportedly create multiple flight alerts without a limit, including monitoring different routes, airports and date ranges. For people planning a single holiday, that could simply mean watching one expensive route for a few weeks. Frequent travelers could use it more like a standing radar system for destinations they regularly visit.
Travel Apps Are Becoming More Proactive
There was a time when a travel app mostly waited for someone to type in an airport code. That model is disappearing.
Apps increasingly monitor prices, recommend destinations, surface unusual deals and send notifications when something changes. Some platforms are also layering generative AI and automated trip-planning features into the same experience.
SlickTrip’s new app sits within that broader move toward proactive travel software, even though its central pitch is straightforward price monitoring rather than an AI chatbot or itinerary generator.
For travelers, the appeal isn’t particularly complicated. Nobody enjoys checking the same flight twelve times. If software can quietly watch the fare instead, then send a notification when something worth acting on happens, that may be enough.
