Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is redefining the global tourism landscape through a powerful fusion of artificial intelligence (AI), digital innovation, and sustainability. As the host of the 26th UN Tourism General Assembly, Riyadh has emerged as a global epicenter for smart tourism—where cutting-edge technology meets visionary leadership to create a model for the future of travel.

A Global Blueprint for AI-Powered Tourism

At the heart of Riyadh’s tourism transformation is an ambitious strategy to integrate AI, data analytics, and automation across every stage of the visitor experience. These innovations are enabling smarter travel ecosystems, seamless visitor management, and meaningful sustainability outcomes.

    Key initiatives include:

    • AI-driven visitor insights that personalize itineraries, manage crowd flows, and optimize logistics in real time.
    • Smart destination infrastructure, including IoT-enabled transport systems and immersive AR/VR storytelling at heritage and cultural sites.
    • Predictive sustainability systems that use AI to monitor resource consumption, minimize environmental impact, and promote regenerative tourism.

Through strategic collaborations between the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) and the Ministry of Tourism, the Kingdom is creating the world’s most technologically advanced tourism framework—designed to welcome over 150 million visitors annually by 2030.

Riyadh: A Global Hub for Smart and Sustainable Travel

Riyadh’s transformation is aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, which positions tourism as a core driver of economic diversification and global cultural exchange. The capital now serves as a living example of how AI and sustainability can coexist, shaping destinations that are intelligent, inclusive, and environmentally conscious.

From next-generation airports to digital visa systems and immersive tourism hubs, Riyadh is investing in every layer of the visitor journey. The result is a holistic tourism ecosystem—where innovation enhances authenticity, and growth aligns with global sustainability goals.

“Riyadh’s rise as a global tourism leader demonstrates how technology can elevate both efficiency and experience,” said His Excellency Ahmed Al Khateeb, Saudi Minister of Tourism. “By embedding AI and sustainability into our national tourism strategy, we are not just attracting travelers—we are redefining the future of travel itself.”

    Sustainability at the Core

Beyond innovation, Riyadh is deeply committed to environmental stewardship and cultural preservation. Its tourism agenda supports:

    • Carbon-neutral destination development and renewable energy integration.
    • Green construction standards for hotels, resorts, and visitor centers.
    • Protection of natural and heritage sites, ensuring tourism growth benefits local communities and ecosystems alike.

The city’s efforts align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reinforcing tourism as a force for positive change.

    A Model for the World

Riyadh’s bold approach offers a blueprint for countries worldwide seeking to balance innovation with responsibility. As a destination, it is pioneering the transition toward “smart sustainability”—an approach where AI amplifies human creativity, supports conservation, and enhances global connectivity.

With continued investment in technology, education, and global partnerships, Saudi Arabia’s capital is poised to lead a new chapter in international tourism—one where data, design, and sustainability work in harmony to create lasting impact.

    About Saudi Arabia’s Tourism Vision
Guided by Vision 2030, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is transforming its tourism industry into one of the world’s most dynamic sectors. Through AI adoption, sustainable development, and global collaboration, the nation aims to contribute 10% to GDP and generate millions of jobs while preserving its culture, heritage, and environment.
