The Caribbean is poised to welcome one of the boldest artificial intelligence and emerging technology events of 2026. IP Summit 2026 Jamaica will bring together global leaders, researchers, entrepreneurs, educators and policymakers to discuss how AI and other next-generation technologies can transform industries and improve lives in the Global South.

The summit is scheduled to take place May 25-27, 2026, at the Ocean Coral Spring Resort in Trelawny, Jamaica. The event is being organized by The Mico University College in collaboration with The Media and Innovation Lab (The MIL) at the University of Miami.

AI and Emerging Technologies at the Center of the Summit

IP Summit 2026 will focus on the practical and ethical use of general-purpose technologies, including:

    • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
    • Biotechnology
    • Immersive Computing
    • Advanced Sensors
    • Cloud Infrastructure
    • Quantum Computing

According to the summit organizers, the goal is to promote “purpose-driven innovation” that addresses real-world challenges such as climate change, healthcare access, workforce readiness, and education reform.

The summit also positions Jamaica and the Caribbean as rising innovation hubs capable of bridging collaboration between the Global South and North.

AI’s Main Themes and Industry Focuses

The conference will cover discussions and presentations on a multitude of industries as AI is rapidly transforming operations and decision-making.

    Education and Learning Innovation

We will look at the future of education systems, with a focus on AI-powered tutoring systems, personalized learning platforms and intelligent teaching tools as they adapt to future workforce demands.

    Healthcare and Life Sciences

Healthcare innovation sessions will feature predictive diagnostics, telehealth, digital therapeutics and AI-driven clinical decision support systems.

    Climate Technology and Sustainability

Experts in climate and sustainability will be discussing the use of artificial intelligence in climate monitoring, renewable energy systems, smart grids and disaster prediction technologies to build climate resilience in vulnerable regions.

    Tourism and Hospitality

Tourism is a major industry in the Caribbean and the summit will focus on AI-enhanced visitor experiences, digital storytelling and the transformation of the workforce in hospitality.

Expected attendance of global AI experts and industry leaders

The event will be attended by keynote speakers and experts from leading universities, government agencies and global technology companies.

    Confirmed speakers include:

    • Dr. David Rhew, Global Chief Medical Officer at Microsoft
    • Dr. Rada Mihalcea, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Lab at the University of Michigan
    • Senator Dr. Dana Morris Dixon, Jamaica’s Minister of Education
    • Dr. Azizi Seixas, Founding Director of The MIL at the University of Miami

Additional participants from climate science, healthcare, education, and tourism sectors are also expected to join the summit.

AI Innovation Lab and Startup Showcases

One of the summit’s major attractions will be the AI Innovation Lab, where attendees can experience live demonstrations of AI applications in healthcare, education, sustainability, and language technologies. In addition, the event will showcase how artificial intelligence is transforming industries and improving everyday life.

The Innovation Launchpad will also showcase startups, student prototypes, and AI-powered products from innovators around the world. Organizers say the initiative aims to connect entrepreneurs with investors, policymakers, and industry partners.

Call for Papers and Research Submissions

IP Summit 2026 invites researchers, educators, entrepreneurs, and technology professionals to submit proposals for:

    • Research papers
    • Workshops
    • Startup pitches
    • Technology demonstrations
    • Panel discussions

Areas of interest include AI in education, digital healthcare, climate resilience, AI ethics, financial technology, and workforce transformation.

Organizers said the summit is designed to create partnerships that last and to position the Caribbean as a major player in the global innovation ecosystem.

Why IP Summit 2026 is important

Governments and organizations worldwide are rapidly adopting artificial intelligence technologies. As a result, events like IP Summit 2026 highlight the growing importance of inclusive innovation and fair access to AI tools. Moreover, these initiatives demonstrate how global leaders are working together to promote responsible AI development. At the same time, experts emphasize the need for equal opportunities in accessing emerging technologies.

The summit is part of a broader push for new technologies to benefit developing countries and underserved communities, rather than widen the digital divide.

Jamaica’s IP Summit 2026 could become a crucial platform for the global AI industry to see how emerging economies are shaping the future of responsible AI innovation.
