From Millions of Construction Scenarios to Smarter Project Schedules: ALICE Technologies Nominated for 2026 World AI Awards

ALICE Technologies has been nominated for the 2026 World AI Awards in the Construction category, recognising its use of artificial intelligence to tackle one of the industry’s stubborn problems: deciding how a complex project should actually be built.

Construction schedules rarely stay neat for long. Labor availability changes. Equipment gets tied up. Procurement slips. A sequence that looked sensible six months earlier suddenly creates a bottleneck somewhere else.

ALICE Technologies approaches that problem through AI-powered generative construction scheduling, allowing project teams to test large numbers of possible schedules rather than manually working through a handful of alternatives. The company says its platform has been deployed on more than $297 billion worth of construction projects worldwide.

The World AI Awards recognises organisations, individuals, products and technologies contributing to the development and practical application of artificial intelligence across industries.

Instead of one construction schedule, ALICE explores millions

Traditional construction planning often produces a baseline schedule that teams subsequently adjust as circumstances change. ALICE takes a different route.

Its optimization software can import schedules created in tools such as Oracle Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project. Project teams define their objectives and constraints, then use ALICE to simulate different scheduling paths and compare the resulting time and cost implications.

That makes “what if?” questions much easier to investigate.

What happens if another crew is added? Could activities be resequenced? Where is acceleration actually possible? If equipment or labor becomes constrained, which alternative causes the least disruption?

ALICE says its technology can simulate millions of possibilities rather than forcing planners to manually build every alternative. The resulting options can then be compared before the project team decides which approach fits its priorities.

Importantly, not every ALICE product uses the company’s optimization algorithms. ALICE Plan focuses on visual planning, while ALICE Optimize applies AI to existing schedules and ALICE Model starts with a 3D model before generating and testing scheduling alternatives.

AI scheduling meets real construction delays

The practical test comes when a project is already under pressure.

On a U.S. life sciences project, Suffolk Construction used ALICE after procurement delays threatened a critical milestone. According to an ALICE Technologies case study, the team adjusted sequencing to reduce negative float by 22 days and ultimately recovered 42 days through targeted acceleration strategies.

Another company-reported example involves a North American data center project. ALICE says schedule optimization helped the contractor recover 63 days by removing soft logic and changing task sequencing.

Infrastructure provides another use case. ALICE reports that an unnamed interstate highway contractor used the platform to challenge an existing schedule after project delays. Resequencing helped the contractor recover lost time and finish ahead of schedule, with the company attributing more than $25 million in savings to the project. Because the contractor is confidential, that figure should be read as a result reported by ALICE rather than an independently disclosed customer metric.

Construction planning starts before crews reach the site

The technology is not limited to rescuing delayed projects.

During preconstruction, contractors can use ALICE to test workforce levels, production assumptions and different methods before committing to a plan. One industrial-project case study describes an EPC bid team running ten scenarios to examine workforce configuration and the effect of labor productivity on project duration.

ALICE Model pushes the process into 3D. Teams can upload a BIM model, connect construction methods to the design, generate a baseline schedule and then run different scenarios against project constraints.

It is a practical form of AI. The software is not trying to replace the superintendent or project controls team. It gives them a much larger field of possible schedules to interrogate before making a decision.

Graham Cooke, President of the World AI Awards, said:

“ALICE Technologies’ nomination highlights an area where artificial intelligence can address a very tangible construction challenge: understanding how changes in sequencing, resources and constraints affect the way a project is delivered.

“By using AI to explore construction scenarios that would be difficult to assess manually at the same scale, ALICE Technologies is giving project teams another way to interrogate schedules before committing time, labor and equipment. We congratulate the team on its 2026 World AI Awards nomination in the Construction category and look forward to following the continued development of its technology.”

ALICE Technologies joins organisations, entrepreneurs, researchers and technology developers being recognised through the 2026 World AI Awards.

The programme recognises organisations, individuals and technologies contributing to the development and application of artificial intelligence across industries.

Construction is an interesting test case. Projects involve thousands of interconnected activities, shifting constraints and expensive decisions that cannot simply be undone. ALICE Technologies is applying AI directly to that complexity, turning scheduling from a relatively static planning exercise into something teams can repeatedly test, challenge and revise.
