Aramco Digital has unveiled a new industrial AI ecosystem built for Saudi Arabia’s heavy industries.
Called iCONNA, the platform combines industrial connectivity, artificial intelligence, connected devices, and Industrial Internet of Things technology. It was unveiled at LEAP 2026 in Riyadh by Aramco Digital CEO Dr. Ashraf AlTahini.
The idea is bigger than simply connecting machines. Aramco Digital wants industrial sites to turn live operational data into faster decisions. Over time, that could support facilities that become more automated and adaptive.
At the center is Saudi Arabia’s national 450 MHz industrial network. It provides dedicated connectivity for industrial environments where reliability and security matter.
iCONNA Brings Six Industrial Technology Layers Together
Industrial technology can become fragmented quickly. One vendor handles connectivity. Another supplies sensors, while separate platforms manage data and AI. iCONNA is designed to bring those pieces closer together. The ecosystem combines six core layers. They cover the 450 MHz network, mission-critical communications, Industrial IoT, smart devices, industrial AI, and a software marketplace. Predictive maintenance is one area where industrial AI can deliver practical value. Instead of waiting for equipment to fail, AI can study sensor information for early warning signs. Maintenance teams can then investigate before a problem becomes more expensive. Aramco already uses predictive modeling across its operations. Industrial AI isn’t a completely new direction for the wider Aramco organization. The company says it recorded $1.8 billion in AI-driven Technology Realized Value during 2024. By late 2025, it had identified 442 AI use cases. More than 200 solutions had already been deployed. Another 100-plus were under development. Those applications cover areas such as exploration, production, reliability, engineering, maintenance, and worker safety.
Aramco’s Industrial Sites Provide a Massive Data Foundation
Industrial AI needs data, and Aramco produces plenty of it. Its Fourth Industrial Revolution Center collects more than five billion data points every day. Those streams help support the development of AI and digital solutions. The company already uses AI, machine learning, robotics, drones, and IIoT across different facilities. This creates an unusually large testing environment for industrial intelligence. iCONNA could help extend that approach into a broader commercial ecosystem.
