Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced AED 5.3 billion in digital revenue for 2025, a major milestone in the emirate’s shift to AI-powered, digitally connected mobility services.

This is a 20.6% increase over 2024 and shows the rapid digitisation of Dubai’s public transport and mobility services. RTA processed over 628 million transactions through its six digital channels in 2025, with digital service adoption reaching 96%.

Customer satisfaction also remained high with RTA reporting 98 percent customer happiness score. The results suggest that residents and visitors to Dubai are increasingly turning to digital platforms as their main way of accessing services related to transport.

The RTA’s digital revenue up to AED 5.3 billion in 2025, highlights the growing significance of smart government services in Dubai’s transport ecosystem. The authority now offers more than 100 digital services across apps, kiosks, virtual assistants, and shared government platforms.

The RTA Dubai app has become one of the authority’s most important digital channels. The app had 1.2 million active users and 68 million visits last year, a marked increase on the previous year. Smart app use made up more than a quarter of all service transactions.

During the year, RTA also added 18 new services to the app, further cementing its position as a one-stop shop for transport payments, journey planning and customer services.

AI and Automation Are Becoming Core to Dubai Mobility

A key part of RTA’s digital transformation is the growing use of artificial intelligence and automation.

The authority’s virtual assistant, Mahboub, now supports 32 interactive services after its latest upgrades. The AI-powered assistant helped boost transaction volumes and increased revenue collected via the virtual assistant channel.

RTA also launched Madinati, a WhatsApp-based service leveraging computer vision and generative AI, offering users a smarter and more accessible digital channel to engage with transport related functions.

The developments are in line with Dubai’s broader aspiration to build an AI-powered mobility ecosystem that will boost speed of service, personalization and operational efficiencies.

Smart Kiosks Expansion and Government Platform Integration

RTA’s smart kiosks also achieved a major milestone in 2025 by surpassing the one million transactions mark for the first time, generating over AED 425 million in revenues, thanks to the introduction of new interactive units at Customer Happiness Centres.

Beyond its own platforms, RTA expanded its services across Dubai’s shared digital government ecosystem. This includes integration with platforms such as Dubai Now, Invest in Dubai, Visit Dubai, Build in Dubai, and the S’hail app.

The connected platform approach supports Dubai’s digital “one government” model, where residents and businesses can access public services through integrated channels instead of fragmented systems.

Dubai RTA’s AI Strategy 2030 Raises Standards

RTA’s latest digital revenue results are in line with the authority’s continued execution of its Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2030.

The strategy includes dozens of AI initiatives aimed at improving mobility, cutting down on commute times, improving productivity, and reducing operating costs. The RTA has already deployed many AI applications in areas such as traffic management, licensing, mobility planning, and customer service.

A key part of this transformation is the authority’s Big Data Platform, which enables transport data to be connected across systems and allows for more advanced analytics to help plan for future mobility.

A Sign of Dubai’s Smart City Momentum

Dubai’s RTA digital revenue growth is about more than just stronger online payments. It’s about digital-first public services becoming a normal part of the day-to-day in the emirate.

With high adoption rates and high levels of customer satisfaction, coupled with the increasing incorporation of AI, RTA is positioning itself to be one of the world’s most advanced transport authorities in delivering digital services.

Dubai’s government is still putting its money into smart mobility, AI assistants, big data and connected government platforms. RTA’s 2025 results promise a future of public transport services which are faster, more automated and more personalised.

    Why it matters

Dubai RTA’s digital revenue of AED 5.3 billion shows how AI and digital platforms are at the heart of the future of public mobility.

For Dubai, it reinforces its status as a global smart city leader. For transport authorities worldwide, it offers a real-world example of how digital adoption, AI assistants, smart apps and integrated government platforms can improve service delivery while generating significant revenue.

The bigger story is that public transport is no longer just roads, buses, taxis and trains. It is increasingly becoming a data-driven, AI-enabled service ecosystem.
