Kevin Bacon, Kate McKinnon, and Creatives Rally Against ‘Unjust’ AI Threat

Kevin Bacon, Kate McKinnon, and over 11,500 creatives, including authors, musicians, and actors, have signed a powerful statement warning against the “unlicensed use of creative works” to train artificial intelligence systems. These prominent figures, alongside a growing number of artists, are raising concerns about how AI companies are using their works without proper consent or compensation.

The letter highlights the ethical dilemma posed by AI companies that scrape creative content to train algorithms, often without the creators’ knowledge. Many in the creative community fear that AI-generated content could undermine their livelihood by reproducing art, music, and writing based on their original work.

This rallying cry underscores the need for stronger intellectual property protections as AI technology continues to evolve. As the debate over AI’s impact on creativity intensifies, the voices of Bacon, McKinnon, and thousands of others are making it clear that artists deserve a seat at the table in determining how their work is used in the digital age.
