Google Classroom introduced a new AI-powered feature designed to help teachers generate questions. Launched on Monday, this tool lets educators create a list of questions based on specific text input. Using this text-dependent question-generation tool, which utilizes Gemini, teachers can either upload files from Google Drive or manually enter text for the AI to generate questions. They can then export the questions into a Google Doc or Google Form. Educators can choose from a variety of filters, including the grade level, the number of questions, and the type of questions (such as multiple choice or open-ended). Additionally, there is an option for teachers…

Meta announced on Monday that it’s going to train its AI models on public content, such as posts and comments on Facebook and Instagram, in the EU after previously pausing its plans to do so in response to regulatory pressure due to data privacy concerns. The company will start training its AI on users’ content in the EU this week, it said. Users’ interactions with Meta AI will also be used to train its models. The announcement comes after a limited version of Meta AI launched in the EU last month, well after its debut in the U.S. and other global markets. While Meta has been training…

Social media users have been uploading photos of themselves to AI tools to see what they’d look like as dolls or action figures — and then sharing the results for fun. How can I make an AI action figure? The trend centers around AI image generators such as OpenAI’s DALL-E and Midjourney, which can transform a simple selfie into a stylized, doll-like portrait. Users often appear with oversized heads, glossy eyes and plastic-like skin textures — mimicking the look of toys, collectibles or animated characters. The posts are largely playful, often using hashtags like #AIbarbie, #AIactionfigure and #StarterPack. Some show users styled as fashion dolls,…

Meta will train its artificial intelligence (AI) models with its European users’ public content and conversations with the Meta AI chatbot, the firm said on Monday. The decision represents a major volte-face from the Facebook and Instagram owner, which has previously appeared wary of the European Union’s stringent regulations on the use of personal data. People based in the EU who use Meta platforms can opt out of having their data used for generative AI training purposes, the social networking giant said. That means everything from Instagram photo captions to Facebook comments could soon be fair game for Meta AI, which the Mark Zuckerberg-owned company hopes will overtake market-leader ChatGPT.…

Researchers at Together AI and Agentica have released DeepCoder-14B, a new coding model that delivers impressive performance comparable to leading proprietary models like OpenAI’s o3-mini. Built on top of DeepSeek-R1, this model gives more flexibility to integrate high-performance code generation and reasoning capabilities into real-world applications. Importantly, the teams have fully open-sourced the model, its training data, code, logs and system optimizations, which can help researchers improve their work and accelerate progress. Competitive coding capabilities in a smaller package The research team’s experiments show that DeepCoder-14B performs strongly across several challenging coding benchmarks, including LiveCodeBench (LCB), Codeforces and HumanEval+. “Our model demonstrates strong performance across…

Company finances are the hidden, beating heart of a business. Suppliers and workers don’t see the behind-the-scenes details of how they get paid, just that the money flows into their bank accounts (or, increasingly, digital wallets). But as enterprises increasingly adopt artificial intelligence (AI) to help them manage their financial operations, it’s turning the rapidly evolving technology into the equivalent of a corporate pacemaker, automating and regulating the smooth flow of billions of dollars in disbursements. In the process, AI is becoming a profit center that helps businesses streamline their payment processes, ensure disbursements flow on time — and in the right amount — and better manage their capital.
