Salesforce is getting something investors have been waiting for: clearer signs that its AI push is turning into revenue.
The company raised its fiscal 2027 sales forecast after reporting stronger demand for Agentforce and Data 360. These are central pieces of Salesforce’s artificial intelligence strategy.
Salesforce now expects full-year revenue of $46.1 billion to $46.4 billion. Its previous forecast stood at $45.9 billion to $46.2 billion.
The reaction came quickly. Salesforce shares rose about 7% in extended trading after the announcement.
For a company facing questions about whether AI could disrupt traditional software, the quarter delivered a different message. Salesforce wants AI agents to become another growth engine inside its existing cloud business.
Salesforce Raises Its Fiscal 2027 Revenue Outlook
Salesforce increased its full-year revenue guidance after the second-quarter results. The company now expects between $46.1 billion and $46.4 billion in fiscal 2027 revenue. That represents expected growth of about 11% to 12% from the previous year. Salesforce also raised its adjusted earnings forecast. It now expects adjusted earnings per share of $16.67 to $16.71. The previous range was $14.06 to $14.12.
Agentforce and Data 360 Are Approaching $4 Billion in ARR
The biggest AI number came from Agentforce and Data 360. Combined annual recurring revenue reached nearly $3.9 billion during the quarter. That figure increased more than 210% from a year earlier. Agentforce alone passed $1.5 billion in annual recurring revenue. Its ARR climbed more than 240% year over year. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said demand for the company’s AI and data products remains strong.
Agentforce Is Moving Beyond the Pilot Stage
Agentforce has been one of Salesforce’s biggest bets on agentic AI. The platform lets companies deploy autonomous AI agents across sales, customer service, and other workflows. Those agents can perform tasks without requiring someone to manage every individual step. Salesforce says customers are increasingly using those capabilities inside existing business operations. Bookings for Agentforce One Edition and Agentforce for Apps more than doubled from the previous quarter.
Salesforce AI Agents Completed Billions of Work Units
Usage is also moving higher. Salesforce reported 7 billion Agentic Work Units across Agentforce and Slack so far. Around 3.2 billion of those units were delivered during the second quarter alone. That represented 97% growth from the previous quarter. The metric gives Salesforce another way to show actual AI activity. It matters because enterprise AI adoption can look impressive in demos while remaining limited in day-to-day operations.
Salesforce Revenue Reaches $11.3 Billion
Second-quarter revenue reached $11.3 billion, up 11% from a year earlier. Subscription and support revenue came in at $10.8 billion. It increased 12% year over year. The quarter also included contributions from Informatica. Salesforce completed its acquisition of the data management company as part of its wider AI and data strategy.
Future Contracted Revenue Also Accelerates
Salesforce reported current remaining performance obligations of $33.5 billion. The figure increased 14% year over year in constant currency. This metric tracks contracted revenue expected to be recognized during the coming 12 months. Investors often watch it for signs of future growth. The increase gives Salesforce another signal that customers are still committing money to its cloud platform.
Data 360 Is Becoming a Bigger Part of the AI Story
Salesforce’s AI strategy is not built around Agentforce alone. Data 360 provides the information layer behind many AI-driven workflows. During the quarter, the platform ingested 104 trillion records. That was up 355% from a year earlier. Around 82 trillion records moved through its Zero Copy technology. Salesforce also processed 22 terabytes of unstructured data through Data 360. Those numbers highlight an important issue with enterprise AI. AI agents only become useful when companies can connect them with reliable business data.
Slack Is Getting Pulled Deeper Into Salesforce’s AI Strategy
Slack is becoming another important piece of Salesforce’s AI push. The company said Slack recorded its fastest quarterly growth in net new annual order value since Salesforce acquired it. Slackbot usage also increased more than 150% from the previous quarter. Salesforce has been positioning Slack as a conversational interface for business AI. Instead of switching between dashboards, employees can increasingly interact with data and AI agents from inside workplace conversations.
AI Is Starting to Answer a Difficult Question for Salesforce
Salesforce has spent the past two years telling investors that AI agents could reshape enterprise software. The harder question was whether companies would actually pay for them at scale. Agentforce has faced scrutiny over enterprise readiness and customer adoption. Some businesses are still dealing with poor data quality and complicated deployments. Those issues have not disappeared. The latest results, however, provide stronger evidence that AI products are contributing meaningful recurring revenue.
Salesforce Still Has to Prove AI Can Drive Long-Term Growth
One strong quarter does not settle the Agentforce story. Salesforce still needs to convert AI experiments into larger production deployments. It also faces competition from newer AI-agent companies and established software rivals. The company has one major advantage, though. Its products already sit inside the sales and customer-service systems of thousands of enterprises. Agentforce can be added to workflows customers already use. That could make adoption easier than starting with an entirely new AI platform.
The numbers are beginning to make Salesforce’s argument more convincing. Agentforce and Data 360 are approaching $4 billion in recurring revenue. AI usage is rising, future contracted revenue is growing, and Salesforce has increased its annual outlook. AI is no longer just a product presentation inside the company. It is starting to show up in the financial results.
