ChatGPT maker OpenAI has announced that it is working on a new LinkedIn-like hiring platform for businesses to connect with employees. Called OpenAI Jobs Platform, the Sam Altman-led AI firm told TechCrunch that it expects the platform to go live sometime next year.
In a blog post, Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s CEO of Applications, said that the new job application platform will make use of “AI to help find the perfect matches between what companies need and what workers can offer.”
Simo also said that they are working with employers like John Deere and Walmart to professional service firms like Accenture and Boston Consulting Group, community organisations and even state governments to help people find jobs using AI. He added that the service would also enable small business owners and local governments to recruit AI talent. OpenAI Jobs Platform will also have “knowledgeable, experienced candidates” and it will use AI to help “find the perfect matches” for both companies and workers.
Like LinkedIn, it will dedicate resources to help local businesses compete against large organisations by giving them access to AI talent, which can help with their growth.
The AI-powered job platform will also offer OpenAI Certifications using the already available OpenAI Academy, a free learning platform that already has more than 2 million users. These certifications will range from the basics of using AI at work to AI-custom jobs and prompt engineering.
OpenAI says it is committing to certifying at least 10 million Americans by 2030. For this, it will be taking help from its partners like Walmart. During a dinner with reporters, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman had said that Simo would be exploring opportunities beyond its AI chatbot. Apart from the AI job portal, it looks like Simo might also be handling projects like the much-rumoured browser and social media app.
