Oracle and OpenAI Expand Partnership to Bring ChatGPT Into Enterprise Operations

Oracle and OpenAI are taking their partnership deeper into enterprise computing, introducing a new collection of AI-powered tools designed to help businesses manage operations, develop applications and strengthen cybersecurity.

Announced at Oracle AI World in Las Vegas on October 27, 2026, the collaboration combines OpenAI’s advanced models, ChatGPT and Codex with Oracle’s enterprise applications, databases and cloud infrastructure.

The announcement signals a bigger ambition than simply adding AI assistants to workplace software. Oracle wants businesses to use artificial intelligence to complete actual work across connected systems, from financial management to software development.

Four offerings sit at the centre of the expansion: Oracle AI Workspace, Oracle AI Security Mesh, Oracle App Composer and Oracle AI SMB Bundle.

Oracle AI Workspace Brings ChatGPT Into Business Systems

One of the biggest announcements is Oracle AI Workspace, a platform designed to connect ChatGPT with the applications and data businesses already use. Instead of navigating multiple enterprise systems, employees could describe what they need to accomplish through a single AI-powered interface.

The workspace connects OpenAI models with Oracle Fusion Applications, Oracle NetSuite, Oracle AI Database and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Employees can use ChatGPT to retrieve relevant business information, coordinate tasks and complete approved workflows without constantly switching between applications.

Consider a company dealing with a delayed customer order. An employee could ask the system to investigate the issue, retrieve inventory information, review relevant business records and identify possible next steps. Connected AI tools could then help coordinate approved actions across the organisation’s systems.

Oracle says the platform will maintain existing security permissions, governance requirements and approval processes. That distinction matters because businesses need more than an intelligent assistant. They need systems that can work with sensitive information without bypassing established controls.

OpenAI Cyber Models Power Oracle’s New Security Platform

Cybersecurity is another major focus of the expanded Oracle and OpenAI partnership. The companies introduced Oracle AI Security Mesh, a managed service that uses OpenAI’s advanced cybersecurity models to identify and help address vulnerabilities in enterprise applications and infrastructure.

The platform is designed to work across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, other cloud environments and on-premises systems. It combines AI-powered security testing with Oracle’s validation tools and operational safeguards, allowing businesses to investigate weaknesses without building their own AI security testing infrastructure.

Companies can define which systems are authorised for testing and determine the scope of each assessment. Oracle manages the supporting infrastructure and safeguards intended to reduce the risk of operational disruption.

The service also aims to help security teams understand which vulnerabilities present the greatest danger. Rather than simply producing another long list of potential problems, AI models can investigate weaknesses, validate findings and help teams prioritise fixes.

For organisations managing complex digital infrastructure, that could make security assessments more manageable. The real test will be whether the technology consistently identifies meaningful threats while avoiding unnecessary disruption to business operations.

Oracle App Composer Makes Enterprise Software Development More Accessible

Building internal business applications often requires specialised developers, infrastructure management and ongoing maintenance. Oracle believes AI can reduce some of that complexity through Oracle App Composer, a new offering that allows employees to develop applications using OpenAI Codex.

Users can describe the tools they need, while Codex assists with application development. Oracle handles deployment and operational management through OCI, allowing employees to concentrate on the business problems they want to solve.

The platform connects applications to approved enterprise data and workflows while providing access to services such as Oracle Autonomous AI Database and OCI Kubernetes Engine. Identity management, permissions and auditing controls are also built into the development process.

Oracle has introduced support for APEXlang, a technology designed to make AI-generated applications easier to understand and maintain. This addresses a growing concern around AI-assisted development, where software can be produced quickly but becomes difficult for technical teams to manage later.

A finance department, for example, could create a tool for tracking invoice exceptions without starting a conventional software development project. Operations teams might build applications to manage internal requests, while marketing departments could develop workflows for coordinating campaigns.

The opportunity is appealing, particularly for companies with limited development resources. However, organisations will still need to evaluate application security, reliability and long-term maintenance before putting AI-generated software into critical operations.

Small Businesses Get Access to $12,000 in Annual Oracle Cloud Credits

Oracle is also targeting entrepreneurs and smaller companies through its new Oracle AI SMB Bundle, a free-to-start package that includes $12,000 in annual Oracle cloud credits.

The offering combines ChatGPT Business, Oracle AI Workspace, Codex, Oracle App Composer and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. It also includes NetSuite QuickStart, which helps businesses manage essential financial operations such as invoicing and cash flow.

For a startup developing its first product, access to AI-assisted coding and cloud infrastructure could reduce some of the initial technical challenges. Founders could potentially build applications, manage internal processes and establish basic financial systems using tools available through the same package.

Oracle is positioning the bundle as a way for businesses to adopt AI from the beginning rather than introducing automation after their operations become more complicated.

The annual cloud credits could be particularly useful for companies experimenting with AI-powered products. Still, businesses should examine the eligibility requirements, usage restrictions and potential costs beyond the included credits before committing to the platform.

Oracle and OpenAI Push AI Beyond Workplace Chatbots

The expanded partnership reflects a broader change in how technology companies are approaching enterprise artificial intelligence. Businesses have spent the past few years experimenting with chatbots, writing assistants and AI-powered search tools. Oracle and OpenAI are now focusing on systems that can interact with business applications and perform approved tasks.

Oracle CEO Clay Magouyrk described the collaboration as an effort to combine OpenAI’s capabilities with Oracle’s enterprise applications, data and infrastructure. The goal is to bring advanced AI into the systems companies already depend on for their most important operations.

OpenAI President and Co-Founder Greg Brockman also highlighted the opportunity to help organisations develop software faster, strengthen cybersecurity and handle increasingly complex knowledge work.

The approach could appeal to large organisations that already rely on Oracle products for financial management, human resources, customer operations and infrastructure. Integrating AI into those existing environments may prove more practical than asking employees to adopt entirely separate platforms.

But enterprise AI comes with difficult questions. Companies must determine how much authority to give AI systems, which actions require human approval and how to respond when automated processes make mistakes.

Those concerns become more serious when AI moves beyond providing recommendations and begins interacting directly with financial records, customer data and operational systems.

What the Oracle and OpenAI Partnership Means for Enterprise AI

Oracle’s latest announcement places artificial intelligence closer to the operational centre of the enterprise. Rather than treating AI as an additional productivity feature, the company is connecting advanced models with the applications, databases and infrastructure that businesses already use.

For employees, this could eventually mean spending less time navigating software and more time defining the work that needs to be completed. An AI-powered interface could gather information from several systems, recommend actions and coordinate approved workflows without requiring constant manual intervention.

For Oracle, the partnership strengthens its position in the enterprise AI market by connecting cloud infrastructure, application development, cybersecurity and business management within a broader AI offering.

The challenge now is execution. Businesses will want clear evidence that these products deliver measurable improvements in productivity, security and operational efficiency. Pricing, availability and the practical limitations of individual services will also influence adoption.

Oracle has cautioned that planned capabilities and release schedules may change, meaning organisations should evaluate the offerings based on confirmed availability rather than anticipated features.

The Oracle and OpenAI partnership points toward a future where AI does more than answer workplace questions. It could become a central interface for running business operations, provided companies can maintain the security, reliability and control those operations demand.
