DEWA AI virtual engineer deployment will mark a global first in power network operations. Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced it will introduce the DEWA AI virtual engineer in June 2026. The announcement was made by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer during the World Governments Summit 2026. The system will operate across Dubai’s electricity network and function continuously without interruption.

DEWA AI Virtual Engineer Designed for 24/7 Power Network Monitoring

The DEWA AI virtual engineer will monitor the electricity network around the clock. It will analyze real-time operational data from generation, transmission, and distribution systems. The system is designed to predict equipment failures before they occur. It will also identify root causes of faults once issues are detected. The AI engineer will run simulations to evaluate network performance under different scenarios.

DEWA AI Virtual Engineer Supports Predictive Maintenance and Optimization

The AI virtual engineer will generate efficiency calculations automatically. It will provide recommendations for plant optimization and system improvements. DEWA stated that the system will support predictive maintenance by detecting early warning signals. This approach is intended to reduce unplanned outages and improve network stability during peak demand periods.

DEWA AI Virtual Engineer Builds on Existing AI Deployments

DEWA has used artificial intelligence in its operations since 2017. That year, it introduced Rammas, an AI-powered virtual employee for customer services. Rammas has processed more than 12 million customer interactions without human involvement. In 2025, DEWA deployed the world’s first AI-powered gas turbine intelligent controller at the Jebel Ali Power and Desalination Complex. That system uses digital twin technology for operational control.

AI Strategy and Digital Infrastructure at DEWA

The DEWA AI virtual engineer is part of the Digital DEWA strategy. The authority operates advanced data centers to support large-scale AI analytics. These systems process millions of data points daily to support grid reliability and operational planning. DEWA continues to integrate AI across power generation, transmission, and distribution functions.

The DEWA AI virtual engineer represents the next phase of automation in Dubai’s electricity infrastructure, combining real-time data, predictive analytics, and autonomous system evaluation.
