SiFive said it will adopt Nvidia technology to create faster links between chips, the company announced on Wednesday. SiFive’s plan involves integrating Nvidia’s interconnect systems into its RISC-V based products. The move is designed to improve data transfer speeds inside complex computing systems.

SiFive makes RISC-V central processing units used in a range of devices. The company supplies IP designs and chips to customers in technology and industrial markets. The integration of Nvidia interconnect tech aims to support high performance computing applications.

The Nvidia technology that SiFive will use includes Nvidia’s NVLink and related interconnect solutions. These systems enable rapid communication between processors, graphics units, and other accelerators. NVLink operates at high bandwidth levels to reduce latency in data exchange.

SiFive said the adoption will help its platform handle workloads that require significant data movement. The technology will be applied to multi-chip modules and heterogeneous computing systems. These setups often require efficient links between separate processing units.

The agreement does not involve Nvidia buying a stake in SiFive. It is a technology adoption and collaboration arrangement. Both companies did not disclose specific financial terms of the technical partnership.

SiFive said the integration work will occur over multiple product generations. The company plans to embed Nvidia’s interconnect solutions into future designs. This includes support for systems where RISC-V cores work alongside graphics processors and AI accelerators.

SiFive’s announcement noted global demand for faster chip-to-chip communication. Data intensive tasks such as artificial intelligence, edge computing, and cloud services benefit from high bandwidth links. Nvidia’s interconnect solutions are widely used in data centers and high performance computing environments.

The companies said engineering teams will work together on implementation. SiFive will tailor Nvidia’s technology to fit the architectural needs of its RISC-V based products. Testing and validation will follow standard industry procedures before products reach customers.

SiFive also said the collaboration will help its customers build systems with mixed processor types. These include combinations of CPUs, GPUs, and specialized processing units. The goal is to create platforms that support flexible and scalable performance.

The deal comes as the semiconductor industry evolves toward more modular designs. High performance applications often combine different types of processors in a single system. Efficient interconnects are key to synchronizing workloads across these components.

SiFive and Nvidia did not set public timelines for when the combined technology will appear in commercial products. Both companies stated they will provide updates as development progresses. The collaboration reflects growing interest in establishing stronger links between processing elements in modern computing architectures.
