Ahmed El Abed on AI-Powered Assistive Technology for the Deaf Community at Web Summit Qatar 2025

At Web Summit Qatar 2025, groundbreaking innovations in artificial intelligence and assistive technology are being showcased, and one of the most impactful solutions comes from Ahmed El Abed, Co-Founder & CEO of Be My Sense Corp. A student at the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDSD), El Abed is pioneering AI-driven solutions that bridge communication gaps for the deaf community. His startup, Be My Sense Corp, is revolutionizing sign language translation through AI-powered mobile applications and digital integrations.

Revolutionizing Communication for the Deaf

The mission of Be My Sense Corp is to foster inclusive communication for deaf individuals in professional, social, and educational environments. “Every day, we aim to improve by just 1% toward our goal of making communication more inclusive for the deaf community,” said El Abed.

At the core of Be My Sense is an AI-powered mobile application that serves as a two-way communication tool:

  1. Sign-to-Voice/Text: Deaf individuals can use hand gestures, which the application detects through a phone’s camera, and converts into real-time voice or text.
  2. Voice-to-Sign: Users who do not know sign language can record their voice, and a 3D avatar within the app will translate the speech into sign language on a real-time basis.

Beyond the mobile application, Be My Sense is developing API integrations to embed their technology into websites, televisions, and even in-flight entertainment systems to ensure universal accessibility.

Support from the University of Doha for Science and Technology

El Abed credits UDSD’s UHub and tailored mentorship programs for the success of Be My Sense Corp. “The university provided not just technical and entrepreneurial training, but also soft skills that helped us transform an idea into a viable business,” he shared.

As an applied university, UDSD offers students access to cutting-edge AI and machine learning research facilities, mentorship from leading professors and industry experts, and opportunities to test and refine their innovations. This support has played a crucial role in advancing Be My Sense Corp’s technological development and business strategy.

Scaling the Vision: What’s Next?

With the beta version of the mobile application set to launch soon, Be My Sense Corp is gearing up for a go-to-market strategy. The company is actively seeking funding and investment opportunities to expand its reach and integrate its sign language translation technology into:

  • Government websites and ministries
  • Banking and corporate websites
  • Airports, public spaces, and customer service centers

“Our ultimate goal is to embed Be My Sense technology into every mobile device, website, and service platform that requires inclusive communication,” El Abed stated.

A Future of Inclusive Communication

The journey of Be My Sense Corp is a testament to the power of AI-driven assistive technology in transforming lives. As Web Summit Qatar 2025 continues to highlight cutting-edge innovations, El Abed’s work stands out as a game-changer for accessibility and inclusion.

With strong academic backing, a clear mission, and growing investor interest, Be My Sense Corp is poised to make a global impact, ensuring that deaf individuals can communicate seamlessly in any environment.

As El Abed puts it, “Hopefully, one day, we can make sense in every mobile, every website, and every organization worldwide.”
