Drag, drop, create AI images with Google Whisk

Google’s experimental AI-powered image remixing tool, Whisk, is now available in over 100 countries, including the Philippines. Initially launched in the United States in December 2024, Whisk offers a fun and accessible way for users to generate AI-powered images without requiring prior AI knowledge or expertise in text-based prompting.

Unlike traditional AI image generators that rely on long and detailed text prompts, Whisk simplifies the process by allowing users to drag and drop images instead. Users upload three images—one for the subject, one for the scene, and one for the style—and Whisk merges elements from these inputs to produce unique digital artworks.

Whisk is powered by Google’s advanced AI models. The Gemini model automatically generates descriptive captions for the uploaded images, which are then processed by Imagen 3, Google’s latest image-generation model. This ensures that the final output captures the essence of the original images without replicating them exactly, allowing users to experiment with new artistic styles and concepts.

However, Google notes that because Whisk only extracts key characteristics from the provided images, the results may not always match user expectations. To enhance creative control, Whisk includes an option to edit and view the underlying prompts, enabling users to fine-tune their outputs as needed.
