NYC is a leader in technology and one of the smartest cities in the world.

PIX11 News got an inside look at the most cutting-edge AI technology and gadgets, helping to advance public safety, fight hunger, and even help race car drivers win at the Jacob Javits Center.

Here, there are CEOs, sports leaders, and world leaders. They all come together with one mission: to make the world a better place.

Ask anybody in the smart city world, and they know trailblazer and pioneer Aarti Tandon.

In the technology field, which men mostly dominate, Tandon is running this show.

This is the third year of the Smart City Expo USA, which brings together dozens of technology leaders worldwide.

From Microsoft to the FDNY.

Tandon gave us a tour of the main expo floor.

First, the FDNY.

They were showcasing their fleet of drones. Since 2017, technology has saved lives.

Michael Leo is the captain of FDNY robotics, and he says it’s a game changer.

Citibike is using technology to upgrade its electric bike fleet to make it more accessible.

Dozens of companies are showcasing how AI improves quality of life, from helping improve water quality to enhancing race car drivers’ performance.

Tandon says AI is the answer to creating a better world, from fighting poverty and hunger to keeping us safe.
