Arab Forum Explores Role of Think Tanks in Leveraging AI for Decision-Making

Cairo, November 23 (QNA) – The third Annual Forum of Think Tanks in Arab Countries kicked off on Sunday at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo. The two-day event is held under the theme: “The Role of Think Tanks in Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to Enhance Informed Decision-Making.”

In his opening remarks,  Assistant Secretary General and Supervisor of the Media and Communication Sector at the Arab League Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, emphasized that the forum comes at a time of unprecedented global transformations driven by the digital revolution and the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

He noted that AI is no longer merely a technological tool but has become an active element in shaping policies, guiding public opinion, and shaping the future.

Khattabi highlighted that think tanks, as centers of expertise and foresight, now bear an increased responsibility to engage with these transformations, harnessing AI tools to enhance research, analysis, and decision-making, thereby providing more accurate, in-depth, and objective insights.

He explained that the forum aims to explore how AI technologies can act as a partner in Arab decision-making, not replacing humans but supporting and expanding their capabilities in analysis, planning, and evaluation.

The Arab League, through these annual forums, seeks to build a network of Arab think tanks to foster collaboration, integration, and the development of research and analytical tools in line with major digital transformations.

The Assistant Secretary-General noted that the forum includes sessions on AI technologies, strategic analysis, and ethical considerations, alongside presentations of successful experiences, providing an important intellectual platform for sharing expertise and crafting a collective Arab vision for using AI to serve sustainable development and informed decision-making.
