Google’s New Gemini 3 Powers New Search, Enterprise Features

Google introduced its newest AI model, Gemini 3, on Tuesday (Nov. 18) and deployed it directly into Google Search, the Gemini app and its enterprise cloud stack. The company announced the release in its blog, calling it its most capable multimodal model to date.

Google Embeds Gemini 3 Into Its Core Products

The company says Gemini 3 brings expanded reasoning, longer context handling and improved multimodal performance across text, image, audio and video. Google placed it into Search’s AI Mode for premium users, added it to the Gemini app and made it available to developers through AI Studio and Vertex AI. Independent evaluations are still limited, but Google reports strong internal results across comprehension and problem-solving tests.

The immediate deployment marks a strategic response to concerns that Google was moving too slowly on artificial intelligence compared to rivals. By pushing Gemini 3 straight into Search, Google is signaling that its flagship product will remain the center of its AI strategy rather than be displaced by external models.

The release follows OpenAI’s launch of GPT 5.1, which PYMNTS reported focuses on faster reasoning, adaptive problem solving and personalization features that allow users to set tone and communication style. GPT 5.1 is designed to be more predictable and customizable, especially for enterprise workflows.

Anthropic updated its lineup with Claude Sonnet 4.5 and introduced the Claude Agent SDK. PYMNTS reported that Sonnet 4.5 is built for complex enterprise work, including coding and long-running tasks, and offers expanded safety controls. The Agent SDK gives developers tools to build structured agents that can handle multi-step operations and integrate across business systems.

Google is positioning Gemini 3 around multimodality, agent readiness and broad distribution, especially through Search. OpenAI maintains an advantage in third-party developer ecosystems, and Anthropic continues to gain traction among enterprises that prioritize governance and reliability.

The Search Narrative Shifts

For Google’s core business, Gemini 3 alters a narrative that has followed the company for nearly two years: whether AI would weaken or replace the search model that drives its revenues. The launch shows Google is placing AI inside Search rather than outside it. By integrating Gemini 3 into queries, summaries and planning tasks, Google is betting that its own interface remains the primary destination for information, shopping and service interactions.

Google also introduced Antigravity, a developer platform that uses Gemini 3 to build agents that plan tasks, write code and interact with tools. Gemini 3 on Vertex AI includes expanded governance and privacy controls aimed at enterprise buyers.
