CTM 2025: Joy Jibrilu, CEO, Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board

At Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2025, Joy Jibrilu, CEO of the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board, shared a multifaceted update on the vibrant evolution of The Bahamas’ most iconic twin destinations. From record-breaking airlift announcements and cultural investments to booming international source markets and high-profile MICE developments, Nassau and Paradise Island are stepping into the spotlight with renewed confidence and global appeal.

Airlift Expansion Fuels Global Growth

While acknowledging the unpredictability of the global travel market in 2025, Jibrilu was energized by a surge of new air connectivity and market diversification.

Key highlights include:

  • Air Canada’s new routes from Halifax and Ottawa, a long-anticipated development that opens up crucial East Coast Canadian cities.
  • Expanded Toronto service, with up to two daily flights, underscoring The Bahamas’ growing appeal among Canadian snowbirds.
  • Latin American momentum, with double-digit growth in arrivals and website traffic from Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia—markets that are now commanding dedicated attention.
  • UK travel trade re-engagement, with this year’s Marketplace meetings yielding some of the strongest interactions to date, signaling a renaissance for British travel to The Bahamas.

“We’re not waiting for the traditional markets to rebound—we’re actively cultivating new ones,” Jibrilu said. “And we see golden opportunities ahead.”

New Development and a Reimagined Island Experience

The destination’s maturity isn’t slowing its innovation. Nassau is preparing to welcome a fourth high-end hotel, boasting 600 rooms and a residential component, further enriching an already stellar portfolio that includes Baha Mar, Atlantis, Margaritaville, and others.

Simultaneously, the island is investing in its cultural and experiential assets:

  • The Queen’s Staircase, one of Nassau’s most cherished historic sites, has been fully restored and reopened to both locals and visitors.
  • Nassau is leaning into its culinary identity, positioning itself as “the culinary powerhouse of the Caribbean”, with both international chefs and homegrown talent drawing food lovers to the island.
  • The Bahamian art scene is flourishing, with hotels now integrating local artworks and galleries into their guest experience.
  • Through a promotional initiative by the Board, Bahamian musicians are gaining new global exposure via platforms like Spotify and Apple Music—a push to elevate music alongside visual and culinary arts.

“These aren’t just amenities,” Jibrilu explained. “They are the soul of the destination. They transform a trip into a story worth telling.”

MICE Market on the Rise: Capacity Meets Creativity

Nassau and Paradise Island are making a concerted push into the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) market. With simultaneous representation at IMEX Frankfurt, the Promotion Board is targeting global event planners seeking fresh, versatile, and culturally rich venues.

Nassau’s advantages include:

  • The ability to host groups from 100 to over 1,000 guests
  • Flexible venues like Atlantis, Baha Mar, Margaritaville, and boutique properties
  • Rich pre- and post-conference experiences such as golf, water sports, culinary adventures, and cultural immersion

“The Bahamas offers everything MICE planners want—capacity, creativity, and convenience,” said Jibrilu. “We’re perfectly positioned for both large-scale conventions and intimate retreats.”

A Holistic Destination Strategy for the Modern Traveler

As travel expectations evolve, Nassau and Paradise Island are responding with a balanced approach: premium infrastructure, compelling culture, and robust market expansion. Rather than chasing trends, the destination is curating a complete vacation experience that speaks to leisure travelers, foodies, artists, and business professionals alike.

“This is our moment to lead,” Jibrilu concluded. “To tell the world that Nassau and Paradise Island are not just beautiful—they’re bold, dynamic, and ready for what’s next.”
