Agentic AI start-up Unique raises $30m Series A, appoints new CPO

Swiss software start-up Unique has secured $30 million in a Series A funding round to further enhance its platform, which helps financial institutions integrate and deploy agentic AI solutions.

The round was led by CommerzVentures and DN Capital, and supported by VI Partners and Pictet Group, both of who previously participated in Unique’s $12 million seed round closed three years ago. The company now claims to have raised approximately $53 million since its founding in 2021.

The funding will be used to “significantly boost our global expansion efforts and enhance our ability to deploy agentic solutions for our clients”, according to CEO Manuel Grenacher.

Unique’s AI platform enables financial institutions, most recently including German private bank Metzler, to deploy agentic AI into their back and middle-office functions through 25 off-the-shelf use cases.

These uses cases range from retail and corporate banking, to wealth and asset management, and risk and compliance, among others, and are designed to integrate directly into existing systems.

To diversify its product range, the company has expanded its executive team, with Dana Ritter appointed chief product officer effective April 2025.

Ritter joins directly following a decade-long career at Google, where he is credited, among other achievements, with developing the tech giant’s early agentic web capability, called Duplex on the Web, in 2019.

He has more recently worked as group project manager at Google DeepMind, an AI research lab co-owned by Google parent company Alphabet and Deepmind Holdings.
