Adding to the controversy, another AI-generated summary falsely notified BBC Sport app users that tennis legend Rafael Nadal had announced he was gay. Both errors sparked confusion and highlighted the challenges of relying on artificial intelligence for breaking news updates.
Apple has been approached for comment but has previously declined to address similar cases of AI inaccuracies. These incidents underline the need for improved oversight and verification in AI-driven news systems to prevent misinformation from reaching the public.
