Google has unveiled a new experimental AI tool called “Learn About,” which sets itself apart from conventional chatbots like Gemini and ChatGPT by focusing on an educational approach. Built on the LearnLM model, introduced earlier this year, Learn About is designed to respond with answers grounded in educational research, aiming to enhance the learning experience with more visual, interactive elements.
In a recent test comparing Learn About and Google’s Gemini, both models were asked, “How big is the universe?” While Gemini responded with a summary and Wikipedia-sourced diagram, Learn About took a different approach. It featured an image from Physics Forums, an educational website, and included additional learning-focused content, prioritizing understanding over merely providing factual data.
Learn About’s educational formatting, such as layered visuals and interactive content, reflects Google’s commitment to creating AI tools that support in-depth learning. By emphasizing context and engagement, Learn About could redefine AI’s role in education, making complex topics accessible and fostering a deeper understanding for students and curious minds alike.
