6 AI startups coming to Web Summit in Lisbon

From bias mitigation and enhanced sales to compliance and personalised video, here are six AI startups joining us at Web Summit this November.

Tromero

Tromero was founded in July 2022 by PhD researchers Sophia Kalanovska and Charles Higgins. The company’s mission is to democratise access to AI by reducing the cost of accelerated computing for businesses and individuals. This is achieved through an approach called ‘proof of useful work’, which combines blockchain security mechanisms with AI model training.

The AI startup secured a £1.5 million seed round led by BlueYard Capital in July 2023 and released a beta version of its marketplace in December 2023, followed by a global launch in March 2024.

VidLab7

Munich-based VidLab7 specialises in synthetic media and personalised video creation. The startup, co-founded by Fabian Beringer, recently secured US$3.85 million in seed funding.

The startup’s platform allows users to create customised videos at scale, by recording a single video and personalising it for thousands of recipients. It’s aimed at sales, marketing, customer success, and HR. Features of the platform include customisable avatars, voice options, and an AI recommendation engine, as well as integration with business tools such as Hubspot, Salesforce, and Zapier.
